Gracias por la informacion, quick question, when would be the earliest that I should book a ticket to Spain?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
Do not book your ticket until after you have your visa. The official documentation says you can enter Spain up to 15 days before your visa begins.

@@ESLTeacher365 Thank you for your response, I am planning on applying for the aux program next year, another question, Im still thinking about how early should I start looking for housing. should I wait until Im in spain or should I start looking a month before leaving?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
@@parcero891 Wait until you are in Spain 100%. This way you can really see the place and meet your potential roommates/neighbors. Some people who "found" housing before arriving to Spain got scammed, so to avoid this plan on staying in a hotel/Airbnb at least the first week or two and plan lots of inspections. Idealista is the most common website for finding housing in Spain.

Muchas gracias por su video bien detallado!!! I notice a lot of programs only accept degrees from English-speaking countries. I happen to be a Canadian, born and raised, but have a degree in Spanish from a Costa Rican university. I am fluent in three languages and have two years of teaching experience under my belt. What are my options, please, Jamie?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know for this program there isn’t a requirement that the degree needs to be from an English speaking country. You should be ok as long as you have a Canadian passport.

@@ESLTeacher365 hey, thanks for the reply, but I meant English teaching programs in general. I saw your Epik video earlier, but unfortunately it seems to be only for graduates of an English-speaking university. TALK unfortunately ended at the beginning of this year. :(
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikeberkshire8579 Yes, you're right. EPIK is quite strict with their requirements. I haven't seen it be that strict in other countries. Most don't care where you did your degree, as long as you have one!

@@ESLTeacher365 since TALK ended, is there any other legitimate way to get to Korea, or should I eventually look for another alternative like japan instead?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
You can teach in private academies called hagwons in SK. They hire year round instead of twice a year like EPIK. I have a video on teaching in Korea on my channel you can check out.

When applying for this position do any of the forms have to be translated in Spanish?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, in some cases you'll need to have some of the visa documents translated into Spanish by an official translator. This depends on your consulate and their specific requirements.

Muchas gracias Jamie! If the programs end May 31st, is it ever possible to leave 6 days early/May 25? Reason being, I've a family event back in the USA on May 26 that I cannot miss. Any recommendations?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
If you leave early you won’t get paid for those days and most likely won’t be able to renew to do a second year. It really depends on the relationship you have with your director. If they are nice, they might allow you to “make up” days by working some 5 day weeks instead of 4 day weeks.

I am a single parent…. Any input how this program would work for a single mom? Could my son attend school where I teach? He is 11y/o
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
There have been families that have participated in the program but your child would most likely need to be fluent in Spanish to attend your school since they are public schools. And do be aware that you would only be working 4 days a week at the school. Typically expats send their children to international or private schools in Spain, but these can be expensive.

Do you need Covid 19 vaccine to teach in Spain?
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
Some programs associated with the Aux program have made vaccines mandatory, but I'm not sure if you are applying directly if you need to be vaccinated. I recommend contacting your country's contact for the program.

Hello, thanks for the detailed video. I have a specific question. In the bonus tip, you say to apply to multiple programs to increase chances of selection. I am applying to this program, and also one in France. Unfortunately the dates are similar so I can only choose one. France is my top choice, but for the program there, I will only know if I'm chosen by August 2022. So if I'm selected by the program in Spain and accept the offer in April-May, and then get chosen by the one in France, can I drop out of the Spain program and then reapply for it the following year? I'd ideally like to do both, just that the dates overlap :(
@ESLTeacher365
@ESLTeacher365 3 жыл бұрын
It says in the handbook that you can’t, but some people in the Facebook group for the Madrid Aux program said they rejected the placement and reapplied the following year. You just have to email the Ministerio asap when you know you don’t want that placement.
