This year, we pay tribute to a very special person in the world of EMDR: Robbie Dunton. She was the business partner of Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., of blessed memory, and instrumental in the creation and establishment of the EMDR Institute (USA). As such, Robbie has been the driving force in what has become the institutionalization of EMDR basic training therapy and even its worldwide expansion.
An EMDR therapist in her own right, it was Robbie who developed the use of other non-visual forms of bilateral stimulation (auditory and physical). Robbie utilized these non-visual forms of stimulation to effectively treat children presenting with trauma-related issues in clinical practice.
It is a privilege to honor Robbie Dunton, a discrete, compassionate, and just person, with whom I have had the privilege of working with for more than two decades. Happy International Women's Day!
