Boxers should not lift weights-period. It’s completely irrelevant. But, hey, it impresses women and men that follow and worship other men so if you feel the need to do it go ahead. Just like the focus mittens. Looks cool,impresses losers, but completely irrelevant and useless in terms of improving your ability to box. Have at it fools.

Hav Risen stop spreading bullshit. There ‘s zero scientific back up for your argument “oh boxer shouldn’t lift because makes me slow” Easily compared to “ the earth is flat”.Seems like u are more scared of a punch than barbell.All the strength and conditioning coaches improve the boxer’s strength,power and endurance. All informed and certified in sports science and know how the body works. It’s as simple as this : 2 boxers similarly skilled go against each other, the only factor left is their strength , power and endurance . If u don’t lift or u don’t do any resistance training your punch won’t be as hard as a boxer who lifts simple as that. Plus boxers train to get stronger and powerful not to gain mass u ignorant. Muscle mass ain’t the same as strength. Check Phil Daru’s old school mentality vs science based approach training for boxers video. Educate yourself before throwing lies in the internet.

He got a bit technical at the start but everything he said is pretty much spot on. I can't believe the people saying he doesn't know what he's talking about or 'he's blabbering too much'. Pick up a book and start to expand your minds. He just tried to educate you guys and you're all complaining. There's a science behind athletic speed and its a damn interesting one. Just remember, smart people sound crazy to dumb people.

I'm in my 2nd year in medical school and everything he said was %100 correct. You need to increase the number of motor units (muscles and the nerves that innervate and control the muscle) while increasing the rate for which action potentials (electrical current that flows through nerves and muscles) are fired. So punch as fast as you can with the most amount of resistance you can handle. Great lesson here you guys.

This is true. When I first started I couldn't do one jump, my sense of timing and rhythm was off, I used to jump higher than I do now just to get one swing over. Now I could do double unders, Criss crosses and jump rope straight for 10-15 minutes fast

1 tip for lightning fast hands, relax and throw from open palm. How do you do this? Throw your palm hard enough for momentum to slam your fingers into the inside of your palm, instantly forming a fist on contact. Practice this while shadow boxing. The motion is like trying to quickly grab something out of the air before landing
@thecatvids7947
@thecatvids7947 6 жыл бұрын
This just sets up the foundation concept. When wearing boxing gloves, things become a little different. Instead of letting momentum form your fist, you close your fist before hitting your target.

Learning to relax not trying to hit harder just more accurately using your legs and footwoork to put you in right positions and distance good head movement so you can stay closer to your target you see alot of people scared to stay in the pocket scared for the counter so they back way up now theyre way out of range and have to work to close the distance again its okay to reset take arest and fustrate him this is what mayweather and ali are really good at but if youre behind or trying to impress the judges you have to be aggressive and control the pacequick sharp punches stop loading up on everything i did both kungfu and boxing am i at my peak speed probably not but There's like he said different aspects of speed and things to work on that will make you faster because youre not hinduring your speed so youll seem much faster

i use a few main things for speed...shadow boxing with very light hand weight fast....shadow boxing at full speed.....bag work light but absolute full speed...and double end bag to get speed and timing..thats it....i dont have a speed ball...but have been told at a professinal boxing gym that my hands are the fastest they have ever seen...this guy didnt mention the bags.

I think timing plays a huge part in being quick.Reading the opponent and having a planned response and making it reflex if you look at hicks law increasing the number of possibilities will increase decision time making you react slower.keep it simple,Duress and adrenaline will hinder your fine motor skills.I think resistance on any technique is good whether it's cables or hand weights but the foundation should be sound technique making the moves second nature then increase that explosive power.

Another really really good thing to do for hand speed is shadow boxing in a pool, you can even have five pound weights to make it better
@carpejkdiem
@carpejkdiem 5 жыл бұрын
John Remington The water is great for speed work shadow boxinf. Safe. 5 lbs wghts aren't as good as a shadowboxer resistance band for speed. Or they do have pool resistance hand tools now. Another excellent method is to do band isometrics for speed. It helps recruiting more motor units and core. Then add speed on a bag after. Alt a few sets. Explosive. Keeping fresh not overdoing the nervous system. Another excellent one is push and pull alt. band work simultaneously. From between two opposing points from the standing horizontal vector. Core power push pull all at once. Great for power. And a pull rotation punch single band combo from a horizontal vector drill. Great for footwork in the transition between the pull and the push. You can really get great sets of speed work with this one drill. One of my favorites for sure. Hit work is great with this one. 20/10 alt sides. Great for coordination core footwork speed athleticism and fast motor unit pushes and pulls. Light red band. Great work! I'm with you I love the pool but man if you don't have one it's a tough one. I always wanted one but never have made that happen. Back in the day it was good as a kid at the pool and later the Y but man I miss that access over these last 20 yrs. Rrrr! :-) Good on you if you do.

Right off the bat he’s right . You could get five different people with the exact same training right outta the womb . Even if there diet and training is identical there will be differences in each speed power reflexes the amount of damage u can take ect . DNA give each person difference in potentials .

You gotta twitch. Its all in your brain. How fast can the signal from your brain reach all the muscles that it takes to throw that punch. The only time weights come into play is for stamina. The question was about speed, not power

@Kryptdegen
@Kryptdegen 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you're looking for in these genetics. Some boxers have brittle hands, bad speed, bad reflexes, no power, short in stature. You could say calzaghe had bad genetics In one end (brittle hands, no power), but he had good handspeed. Tevin farmer is short, with no power but he has decent speed and reflexes. Usually your "genetics" gifts you one of these, it's rare a boxer just flat out is terrible all around. That just means he was in the wrong sport to begin with

No need to complicate shit. Everyone is different and punch in different ways and styles. What works for one guy is totally wrong for the next. Punches have a fingerprint we are all unique and individual learn to punch our own way and develop speed after technique is perfected. Skip perfection and all the speed in the world won't do shit for you. 👊🏼👊🏼👍👍
