Years ago, when I was much younger, I played a game called Star Wars Galaxies. I loved it and poured countless hours into it. However, when the servers eventually shut down, I was struck by the sudden realization that all the time and money I had invested amounted to nothing. I mention this because if we see ESO heading in a similar direction-introducing a battle pass with limited story development or rehashed old content simply to tick off boxes (à la Destiny), and offering little more than cosmetic rewards-then, for me personally, that will mark the end of my journey with the game. At the end of the day, those cosmetic rewards are just pixels on a screen, destined to vanish into the ether when the servers go offline. What keeps me engaged is the story. If that is sacrificed in favor of Zenimax-and now Microsoft-focusing purely on profit with minimal game development, then I can’t justify continuing to invest my time and money in it. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

I like ESO but as part developer team myself the main reason for these changes is to move resources around to other projects but still make content without closing down. Zenimax is making a new game and this would make sense from a business perspective to polish that game before release so no backlash like other Bethesda games. So my guess is when the new game is released and its succesfuld then Zenimax will do like with Bethesda and Fallout 76 and outsource to an external company. But that being said some of the better new addition to Fallout 76 is made by the external partner.

Compared to other MMOs, ESO has had way less expansion content for years. Now, they seem to be promising even less. Gold Road was noticeably underwhelming. You couldn’t even enter half the buildings in Skingrad. There are just better MMOs to play. That’s why everyone has left.

Gold Road and scribing is for late game, if he doesn't know the skills, have the gold, and the know-how about the classes it can be a pretty hard thing to get into, specially after being tossed around a lot of zones. Don't forget the new player is learning about everything else too. About the other subject, I don't like to think about bps, it's a great investment of resources and the time factor is underwhelming. Them providing things of value is really hard too, but I can see up to 3 *static* cosmetic set branches (heavy/medium/light themed) per class, maybe with unique pets/special effects/etc. And then *static* cosmetic branch for different zones, maybe with extra character slot/size inventory/zone inspired set/pets/skill effect palette/etc. If those things were well priced, and provided good value, that may work.

They should reduce the price of all DLCs and subscriptions. It’s been over 10 years, and while the game still holds up well, the content is outdated and definitely not worth $50, $40, or even $30 for chapters needed for scrying, scribing, or accessing OP gear. The game is full of gatekeeping-like needing a subscription to gift your friends crowns and then having to wait 30 days after subscribing. It’s ridiculous. I’m not blind to how greedy this is. Sure, I bought all the overpriced DLCs, but I can’t even play with friends who haven’t. It’s fine, though-once Elder Scrolls 6 drops, it’s goodbye to ESO. This whole experience has left a sour taste.

And when they arrive like many other vets of the game will tell you, I play regularly again, slow down a bit, until the next one. So with less new content coming me and most of the other vets will have less to get hyped about. And with the news of less content, its another middle finger to players who have been here in many cases since the beginning. The players who have been here for years who have done everything and poured the most time and money into this game "f*ck em" is the the attitude we get. The amount of money this game has and continued to make is staggering, there is no excuse for the greed and decision to give players even less new content when it is the new content that brings back the returning players. Less new content, less returning players.

When they cut down Q4 dlc it was a red flag, but they promised it was 'to fix bugs' well one year passed and next year - no dlc. Now they talk about no chapter. ZOS does only ONE good thing. It's zones. Now we won't even get that. Furthermore they had year since Necrom to Gold Road and Gold Road is just empty. It seriously uses SIDE QUESTS to patch it's main plot runtime. What were they doing for whole year ?? They had a year to iron out Gold Road's quality ! Now they tell me after underdelivering of ONLY content for entire year, that they are too stressed with work and deadlines ?! How. They were doing fine in other years. I want to see their new project burn, at this point. It's clear they do old ArenaNet to GW 2 when publisher wanted ArenaNet to develop new MMO's so GW 2 was running on bare minimum effort of content. Season pass for sure 😂😂😂 more money for them vs chapters and it will render ESO plus useless outside of craftbag and bonus XP they gonna farm the money off players 😂😂😂

Chapters are tried and true. People like them. Sessions are trash and hated. Sessions will lose players. That's it. Its that simple.

As long as they don't implement a new structure centered around abusing FOMO tactics, and keep it so returning players can do everything in their own sweet time, it should be okay. Games are a fun hobby, not a second job. But who can trust a developer to do that these days? Stay tuned until the new financial year for details, oh what a coincidence that fills me with no hope.

With a separation of PvP and PvE, there's extra wiggle room now for the devs to move away from the traditional class system and expand scribing into something deeper and more meaningful than just supplementary skills. It would be really nice if instead of new traditional classes, we get new useful skill lines based on the theme of the season, that have deeper interaction with scribing, and maybe even further down the line, the ability to upgrade some existing class skills into customizable skills and break away from the morph system, as this seems like the natural evolution of buildcrafting. It would help diversify the builds a bit more, so people aren't always running the same skills. It would also help mitigate the content void, inbetween seasons. Rather than waiting 2 years for a new class, and then only making one alt because it's arbitrary just because new content is locked behind new game, its better to allow more freeform customisation and shake up the gameplay, in such a way that all characters can engage with new content more frequently so the gameplay feels like its changing up. If a new season is about vampires, for example there could be an expansion of the vampire skill line to make it more useful/viable, and people can customise how they play their vampire with scribing if they wish to do so. This means, people have more of an incentive to make alts that are of a certain theme. It gives players more new things to do, that synchronize well with the new content, rather than just repeating old content.

I play tons of D2. Imho the best engine and graphics ive played in a mmo in a long time. However, the seasonal conditions and finite timelines to get stuff (especially the cool stuff) are an unnecessary deadline. I don’t understand why can’t they just allow people to get stuff later on. I have a life, a job, a relationship and a family. Keeping up with content just to have it removed down the road and be inaccessible is a friggin crime. It turned me off from D2 quite a bit and I stopped giving af about the game lately. I just hope on to do easy content once in a while and get off since looking at all the stuff ill never get just demotivates the hell out of me. I hope we don’t lose ESO to a seasonal scheme cuz ZOS wants a few more bucks.

The current average player count is the lowest since February 2018. I suggest they are trying to find ways to stop the rot, and/or boost revenue.

I'd rather zos switch to chapters every other year allowing for better quality more in depth content. In the off year zos could do smaller content like Murkmire or Hews Bane. Plus the ideas they have expressed. Not a pvper but zos could use the off year chapter downtime to work on pvp.

While we are on the topic of cosmetics. How about they give us styles and looks we actually want. The 20+ face and body markings that look like someone was drunk with a permanent marker while someone was sleeping has to go!!!

Hopefully seasons arent just another way to push out overpriced cosmetics. Sadly people are still going to buy them if that be the case .

I want PVP lag fixes, overland difficulty upped and the seasonal content more frequently. The chapter we're so underwhelming when new features weren't added. The overland quests are a waste of time and add nothing of tangible value. They're so easy that they completely undermine any attempt to tell an immersive story. Also quit wasting resources on useless things like Tale of Tribute. Complete waste of dev time when there are so many other issues to fix

The facts are ESO is old, player base is falling and it's just another game in a massive sea of other games. At this time, throwing more and more money at it doesnt make sense from a business standpoint. We can't make a judgment until we see what actually happens in 2025. Personally, I am worried after seeing other live servishish games change their plans as their player base/profits fall...cough, cough...Destiny 2.

What this means is more profit for the corporation and more money out of your pocket. 7:00 LOL, they are NOT trying to increase communication. smh They are trying to increase profits. Mark my words. This is a corporation published by a giant corporation, who's one and only goal is more money/profits. They will not make any major decision/change that does not increase those profits. Period.

I already disliked their idea to ditch the Q4 story/zone content for some QoL changes. Made both Necrom and Gold Roads feel like half stories stretched over two years. In my eyes, they've already robbed us of two Q4 zones we could have explored, siimilar to Southern Elsweyr, the Reach, Deadlands, and Galen in favour of giving us barely anything else. This new plan goes even further in that direction by drip-feeding us "bite-sized" content in 3-6 months seasons. Either they are cutting costs or no longer care about player satisfaction. In any case I do not condone such behaviour. Once my yearly subscription expires I will not be renewing it.

Can anyone name an example of a game releasing lesser content and the game improved? I mean we heard this same stuff when they axed they Q4 DLC content and the game population has dwindled ever since. Not to be negative, I am not quitting. Just wondering how doing the same thing, only on a much larger scale would lead me to believe the results will be anything other than more people leaving the game.
