so immolant seems to be a Latin word meaning sacrifice, used most notably by Caesar to describe the druidic rites of Gauls. So Vorys the Immolant means Vorys the Sacrificed. Which did tend to happen to saints. Maybe he tried to bring House Telvanni under the control of the Tribunal and it didn't end well for him. Such a victim would be scorned as a weakling by Telvanni and so he became a forgotten unsavoury saint.

I have an idea/theory/discussion topic you might be able to make into a video (provided there's any lore evidence to support it): If the the only difference between aedra and daedra is whether or not they chose to help Lorkhan, it stands to reason that they all have the same biology (or some divine equivalent thereof). So does that mean ojects akin to the Heart of Lorkhan exist, such as the "Heart of Molag Bal" or the "Heart of Auriel"? If so, where might they be found? Could Hermaeus Mora's Heart be found in the depths of Apocrypha's oceans of writhing tentacles? Could Mara's Heart be found in the core of the planet Mara? One more thing: Lorkhan is the god of mortals, and his Heart seems to give mortals who "use" it a shortcut of sorts to Chim, could the other gods' Hearts give different kinds powers?

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the Dunmer actually consider 'sins'? Just pondering on the worship of the gods of sex, lies, plotting, etc surely these would not be considered sins then - so what would be?
@t.b.cont.2 жыл бұрын
Dunmer culture seems to be very Nietzsche in nature. It’s a society that values strength and power. Not just in a physical sense, but a mental and emotional one too. Your honour is your social standing, it’s something you love to protect. Not always in a “truthful, chivalrous” sorta way like how we see honour, but rather as one’s pride and accomplishments. An apt example on what I mean would be how the Morag Tong work within Dunmer society. They’re state approved assassins who act as a proxy to kill political rivals. When one member of a house challenges the honour of another, the recipient is marked for death and contracts can be legally put upon that person for assassination. If they are killed within a year then that’s that, but if the person manages to survive and overcome a year’s worth of attempts on their life then their honour is proven and the accuser must leave them be. It should also be mentioned that morrowind’s great houses are so distinct that you can hardly call them the same culture, and over millennia each have adopted the teachings of the tribunal, daedra, and temple in different ways. House Redoran is probably the closest in how we view sins, in the sense that they are pious, selfless, and truthful, they protect their honour through acts of chivalry and protection of others. Meanwhile the telvanni are stark opposites and see their power and righteousness as their personal ability to wield power over others. They are less of a great house and more of a loose organization of mages who are in constant competition among themselves. In the end I guess you could say a cardinal sin for a dunmer may just be weakness. The inability to stand up for themselves, for others, or for their own beliefs. If a dunmer has gone back against his own teachings, or could not defeat the one who challenges them, then he is weak and has dishonoured his name.
@t.b.cont.2 жыл бұрын
Should also be mentioned that the lies and plotting were rarely used against someone within their own house. As much as they scheme they focus it on outsiders and rivals, not their family. The dunmer value loyalty to their faith and family above anything else, and to backstab either was one way to get yourself killed
