ESO GOLD FAQs: Cooldowns On Daily Reward Motifs & Furnishing Plans

This video discusses the notion of cooldowns on motifs that drop from daily reward coffers, as well as furnishing plans that drop from containers and world events in ESO. These concepts have been previously mentioned in past videos of mine, but I've noticed that a fair amount of players have struggled to fully comprehend everything. And hey, I don't blame them; there are a lot of terms and concepts to keep track of so I can completely understand how it may be overwhelming to a player that is less acquainted with this proponent of ESO.
This video aims to clarify absolutely everything regarding daily motif cooldowns and furnishing plan cooldowns in ESO, including debunking some common misconceptions that I've heard about them in game. May this information aid you in your conquest to becoming rich in The Elder Scrolls Online :)
I've also included some brief explanations for some world boss mechanics in this video, as well as some general information regarding dailies, quest sharing, and strategies to implement to make the most (gold) out of your time playing ESO!

Updates: Some of the new events have style pages drop on a once-per-day basis. Sometimes these style pages drop from the daily gold reward coffer, and sometimes they ddop from the purple ones. That being said, event coffers should still be spammed and not hoarded to not destroy your inventory and benefit from all of the other very valuable items that can drop from event coffers! Sometimes these other items are even more valuable than the style pages!

Thank you so much for this and also the mini tips on the events! I was doing harrowstorms for ages and didn't know those tips. Also now I can stop opening all my reward coffers at once, I had no idea they had cooldowns and makes sense how I opened like 10 or moreduring the last event and only getting one motif. Wish I had found this video before that event, but hey! Now I know!

Another cool vid 😀 I'm betting there are exceptions that confuse folks. Example: I remember getting 2 different gold orc throne plans from back to back adds in wrothgar waaay back in the day (long b4 current cp). But wrothgar probably predates the cool down timers and the gold plans may be on seperate cooldowns. Those aeth. dusts are just rare. I compared notes with a PC player back when they were a new thing and our best guesstimate was an avg of 1 every 3-4 k nodes*. So maybe 1 in 9 to 12hrs of hardcore node farming. Not sure if new cp affects that. *possible correction:it may have been every 4-6k nodes so every 12 to 16 hrs of farming. Sorry, this was probably 4 yrs ago and I cannot remember.

Thank you! And precisely; I have gotten more than one Sapiarch or Anequina motif per day, but as you mentioned, that predates a time when cooldowns were implemented. Oh wow, that sounds about right! I recall that it took me almost 3 years of farming nodes (both passively, and actively - especially because the latter was something that I did a lot as a new player/trader) before I got my first aetherial dust!

This is probably a dumb request, but I'd love a video on master writs, please. Basically just what to spend my writ vouchers on and which master writs will give you the best bang for your buck, especially if you don't know every motif in existence. :> edit: forgot to add for flipping, I don't really care to craft.

Follow-up question: They've recently been changing the way daily resets work in-game, making most things reset at the same time serverwide, and making things like Mount training that were a 20h cooldown into a similar daily reset thing. Have these changes had any effect on these hidden item cooldowns?

I have a question (hope that's ok for you) what about the farming spot in fargrave Inn? are you switching the char, or are you leaving the Inn (loading-screen) and go back through the door, to start another grind round, until a purple furnishing drops?

Whenever I’ve farmed there, I’d leave the inn and return until I got a purple plan. Whenever I got one though, I’d usually call it a day, personally, since I typically don’t enjoy farming for too long. I know that others would swap toons though if ever they got a purple to drop.

From hundreds of people sharing information. Which motifs where they from - cooldowns were implemented after elsweyr for daily reward coffers. These are confirmed and there is even an addon to track them. As soon as you receive a motif from the dailies that I specified you get put on a cooldown for 20h where your chances at receiving another are next to 0 so you are better off just waiting.

Follow up question on the daily reward motif cooldown: I read somewhere (can't find it again) that once you get a container into your inventory, the contents of the containers are set right at that moment, so they won't change again or add stuff. So I am confused because with the cooldown and saving up containers to open another day, whether there will be new motifs inside or not?

Ah that is not true. The contents of the container are set once you open it, not once you receive it.

Does same logic applies for upcoming Annihilarch's Chosen, which will drop from Oblivion portals in Deadlands (so, if i understand correctly, pages should drop from chest, but not container)?

Good question! Since those pages are dropping from a world event, my guess would be that they do not drop on cooldown (much like how nighthollow pages that drop from ash piles from harrowstorms don’t drop on cooldown). We may not see the Annihilarch’s chosen motif next patch though; the wording on the PTS was super vague and implied that this motif may not come out until after the update.

IIRC i remember that there were some information about it's release on Ascending Tide release with 2nd one ... somewhere on... either news feed on main eso site or natch potes, but i'm struggling to find it once more. I was hyped about that motif since it's concept art so it's already half year passed and i just wanna ... get it once and for all ffs (literally like nighthollow waiting last chapter). Also i wanna relax from PTSD-grind-session of PvP ranks (cos from 42nd to 50th rank u should grind as much AP, as u've grind till 42nd).

@@ZygmuntNadratowski the cooldown is per motif. So if you get a hexos motif, your chances at getting another one in 20hours are next to nothing. But this will not affect your chances at getting other motifs from other dailies. Hope that helps!

Different motifs are on different cooldowns, so it’s possible to get one of each on the same day very easily if you are farming dailies!

Are you referring to the dailies in wrothgar? Those unfortunately do just have the tendency of reward you with garbage, but none of the other daily reward coffers (blue ones, not the purple boxes from events) from other zones operate like that. But some of those purple reward boxes do tend to produce some pretty crappy rewards sometimes, like crap to sell to the merchants for golds. Not a fan haha

I'm not sure what you mean by "bottles"? If you are referring to "pyandonean bottles", those are not daily coffers. Those bottles also come from Summerset, which is a DLC that came out *before Dragonhold* so cooldowns on daily motifs hadn't been implemented back then.

When deadlands first dropped I got the deadlands gems levitating to drop, then 2 rotations later got the book stack levitating and book case large cluttered to proc with homemaker, maybe 5 minutes in-between drops. 3 purples, same character, about 5 minutes. I personally don't think cooldowns exist, imo it's just rng. I've also gone literally days at a time, switching characters every hour or so, without even getting a single green plan. I really think it's just rng based, maybe an rng pool, that once it hits a certain capacity then it just drops and your rng goes to shit, but I dont think cooldowns for furnishing plans are a thing, at least not with container farming.

Oh wow, nice haul! I wonder the same thing - if furnishing plan drops operate like daily motif drops, where there *technically* is a chance for them to drop again whenever you have already received one, but the drop chance decreases SIGNIFICANTLY, to the point where you are just better off farming on another character that has not been affected by any cooldown, or pausing your farming for another time. This strategy is one that a lot of players use and they've been fairly successful in receiving plans, which is why I always recommend it over farming with just one toon.

Oh also, do you mind sharing what server you play on? I've received multiple comments in the past from players that play on console that insist that they get a shitload of purple plans to drop all the time for them. I was never able to verify if what they were talking about were actual furnishing plans or not, but this is totally unheard of on the PC servers. Just figured I'd ask! I wouldn't think that it should matter what server you are on, but because of the frequency of these comments from console players, I can't help but be intrigued.

@@Arttea yea, all on the same character within 5 minutes of each other. I've also run dungeons in between farming routes and on several occasions have gotten a purple furnishing plan as soon as I got out of the dungeon. That's how I got a dwarven chandelier barred, farmed the public dungeon in greymoor caverns for about 20 minutes, queued for a dungeon, as soon as it was done, continued on my farming route and within 10 containers got a purple furnishing plan. I think there's a bit of other variables that tie into rng but I'm not exactly sure what they are, some of it may be activity based I think. Like, if you're doing nothing but farming for hours then it might be lower, but if you do activities between routes it might slightly go up? Not sure, been testing that one lately though and it seems somewhat effective

I will have to keep that in the back of my mind when farming for things myself to see if I experience something similar! I recall reading a post on the forums (I think) where someone mentioned something similar. I think something that can be taken away from this is that it is always a good idea to passively loot things while you play - that way you don't even have to necessarily dedicate any playtime to "farming" :D

It does! It is called the “timbercrow wanderer”, and it comes from a runebox! You get it by completing dailies in the imperial city and turning them in for merits. 50 merits = the runebox! You can buy it from guild stores!

I have hundred of Leaywiin reward boxes from the double event. Motif/recipes seems to drop pretty randomly when i have tried to open just one per day. At one point someone said the boxes have their loot table set when you receive it in your inventory and it doesnt matter if you open them or not, the result is the same. However that feels to be incorrect too. Dunno..

That certainly isn’t true. A container and a reward coffer will populate itself once you open it for the first time.

Nope, not confusing them. I have lots of both. With boxes I sometimes have had a few days in-between when opening them but even then i might have to open like 5 before I see a motif. Sometimes they do drop from 1st. So that makes me doubt the cooldown theory. Im not trying to argue, im just telling my observations and trying to figure it out.

You are saying “boxes” instead of “coffers”, which is what makes your data difficult to follow, because those are different things. Motifs don’t drop on cooldown from boxes. They do from coffers. Hope that helps! Edit: you should consider using the cooldown timer addon to help you if you play on PC!

I deconned those because they are of a specific style material (arkthzand armory). As I mentioned in the video that you are referencing - some gear should be deconned for a chance at getting valuable style materials (in this case: arkthzand sprockets). But if gear is of a shitty style (like a default race style, like woodelf) then you should sell them. Hope that helps!

How can u guys play the same thing over and over again? I only play a few months and I am already bored. The best things are hidden behind a pay wall. I talked to a dude yesterday that bought at least 300 crates (he said that his first rare mount dropped at the 300's crate (so he probability bought even more, becausehe he has all 3 mounts). zos should add cooldown on gold even longer than lead for harpooner wading kilt from fishing in shadowfen when blackwood came out .People were waiting and Reserving their nodes for days to get drop xd. Then if products will have drop chance pretty low,there is no way for game to duplicate same items trillions of times and selling it for higher prices. We need get back the gold to the game instead of trading gold for item . Also need to make ppl stop buying in crown store.Anything that is from crown store that ppl would mind its their endgame.Changing race,alliance,buying crown crates.Dont need to waste pocket.
