It really is wild how basic performance issues have been in the game for 10 yrs. Yet, we're supposed to be understanding when shit happens that's out of their control? As a community we should be outraged, especially after all the time and money we sink into it. We've already lost a significant number of PvP players. I wish they would just hand everything to somebody that gives a f*ck!

idk that sounds more like a joke, but I just noticed that they started a free trial of eso+ today and their page on it states you cannot get the companion quests- none of them, and I do remember that they used to be available bc I took a guildie to Mirri's quest one time during the free week. My guess is they found it easier to disable all companion quests rather than just the 2 new eso+/crown store ones. I find it more reasonable that that failed and people who got free week of eso+ were getting these new companions from picking up quest in the world not through crown store than getting apex mounts for an entirely different amount that they have never been offered at

well you are right, that did happen, found through UESP-- just seems odd though, the locked crown store then shortly after whole server? maybe both happened bc for the price issue that's taken care of by a locked store, not necessary to take down servers

we lost servers before think it was 2016 may have still been 2015 shit went boom and game ran like poop for months while they had to replace hardware. ps remember the level 3 failure that knocked out 1/3 of the us net. that was eso with millions of simultaneous players. in the early days

Server maintenance is ok. Its too often, yes. What me fucks up is, that we do not get free ESO plus time for the equivalent of the maintenance time. Paying for a service that is not available is wrong.

"Out of their control". I do not pay monthly sub to "Other controllers". I do not give a damn, about server issues, of if engineer farted in the wrong direction, or something of that nature. ZOS takes my money, not other parties. So, if they fail to meet their obligations, I will terminate mine.

If it truly is a 100% power failure and reset there should be a major performance boost for one to two weeks or longer depending on whether they have a data leak that will fill up free memory and if so how bad will limit the performance boost

there data center is not just 1 server. Its a multitude of bare metal devices that need to be re powered and then brought back online. if any of those devices are running a lvl1 hypervisor then all need restored. finally any testing that needs done to ensure everything is running as it should. i think 12 hours was a low ball number to keep people from panicking.

Their data center infrastructure has been dictated by Microsoft for quite a while now but ESO is not regarded as a top IP. I worked for MS on the development of Xbox Online which became Xbox Live at launch and the data centers they put together for top properties like Halo or the Unreal series were very different than those for so-so properties. As for ESO, it follows the 90% grind for 10% fun model of MMO. *Everyone* burns out on those. They get mad at the developer. But the developer has never been to blame given that the player lifecycles for these game are identical.

it is all consistent. Zos managers are only cutting corners. HW not updated, engine outdated, spaghetti code not refactored, balance poor or not existent as everything is low priority, the only big priority is crownstore. Now people reliazed just how bad it is so they stopped playing, so what managers did to save nice numbers ? hey strted eso plus trial in the middle of holiday event. And old and overloaded server crashed. There is no hope in ESO. The game is f-ing dead by thousand cuts.

10 years of negative issues, dragging of the feet to do what look like minor fixes or preventative maintenance and you lose all good will. They need to understand good will as future $ investment. Lose that good will you lose the future $. I am less likely to pay toward ESO now than before due to how it rewards long standing players... it doesn't. Established gold making methods for long term players were destroyed with the sticker book, then the most painful of the 3 the jewellery platings, and the golden vendor jewellery banking are completely destroyed. Yet gold cost of luxury, achievement, housing didn't come down at all. What is left? Farming dragons for dragon blood/rheum, farming current motifs and furniture plans, tel var, carries and the long ass haul of mats farming... all of which are so unprofitable by comparison to treasure chest farming and dolmen farming to previous years why bother just log in get your dragons blood/rhuem/bile from your daily dragon guard crate do your writs and leave till you have enough worth playing the game

Well since I don’t plan on playing ESO as a main game anymore, I’ll give ya a good passive gold maker of mine. Buy jewelry trait stones and slap them on level one jewelry and sell em in the trader. People will buy the rare ones because players will want to research the traits for max trait crafting for jewelry. Bloodthirsty, triune and protective were my money makers. For example I would buy slaughterstone (Bloodthirsty trait) on Xbox for 3k and slap it on a level one ring, then throw that jewelry in the trader for 6700. More than doubling my gold right there. Hell with protective I was buying titanium for 1k and slapping it on jewelry and selling them for 5500. Do that across five guild traders with 10 each of the three traits and you’re talking hundreds of thousands of gold. I made millions on Xbox passively. I played the game and always had tripots and mats to try out new builds. I rarely did any farming at all. It’s all about finding a passive way to make money in MMOs so you can actually just enjoy playing the game. There’s other grinds like these too, you just gotta get creative.

It took me many years to customize the game to my needs. I play PvE, but the game is nice. My internet goes down many times a day, but it's not the fault of the zos. Few time ago I had a problem with logging out of the combat mod. Talked to zos tech support, the people there are 50/50. The first one started to trolling (even more then trolling) me and my problem, but I wrote to tech support again and already another employee was fair.

A lot of the people who “hate” on this game do it from a place of passion for the game. In other words they are very passionate about the game and see the devs not showing any passion or even getting their game to function properly. That then has people like myself who loved ESO at one point, hating on what ESO has become. Everything comes to an end, but it’s pathetic how bad things are. It sucks watching such a truly amazing game die from neglect and lack of passion from the devs. Now maybe this is because they are forced to move on to their next project, or they don’t care, or who knows what. Still the lack of functionality deserves criticism or “hate.”

Nice! I have moved on to New World since it did its cross platform release. I wanted to, and probably will check out the new BG update soon. I played that game more than any other game I’ve ever played, so enjoy!! There’s so much to do and a lot of fun to be had. I’m thankful to ZOS for that, but their mismanagement of the game from a long time customer’s perspective makes me pretty sure I won’t be buying any other titles of theirs in the future. JTK’s and others criticism might seem like all the community does is whine to a newer player, but TRUST ME, ZOS has been pretty poor to its community and paying customers. Their general apathy towards their game and customers is just bad business and feels well……wrong.
