@@Сокал Согласен, это не юрта, а монгольский гэр. В монгольском гэре всегда есть две баганы (столба, опоры), которые поддерживают тооно (обод). Дверь в монгольском гэре всегда ориентирована на юг. У киргизов-казахов вход обращен на восток. Преимущества монгольского гэра по сравнению с киргизской юртой: 1. Технологичность. 2. Быстрее возводится и также быстрее разбирается, как правило в Монголии гэрами занимаются женщины, что косвенно говорит о легкости и простоте сборки-разборки. 3. Более ветроустойчивая из-за меньшей парусности.

Figureing eight hours per day of labor times 4 equals 32 times $30.00 per hour equals $3890.00 per day labor. Based on the six months of filming, the cost of labor equals four hundred thousand plus dollars just to build a tent. Of course I have exagerated the figures to prove my point, but it is breath taking to watch something that should take a few hours become something that becomes a life time committment. A more efficient and less time consuming example of housing can be seen surrounding the tent in the rest of the neighborhood. The canvas cover is the least of the expense in this abomination. In the end, you have a tent that has no permanence and no resale value. You get a few months of admiration and fame for building it and then you get to secretly review all the things you could have done with the money wasted on the 'little tent that could'. Live in it? One room for all and no privacy or separation? ONce again the examples in the rest of the neighborhood point to the lie of the yurt.

It's a kind of a symbolic thing: the turkic people place the "heating system" (fire place) in the center and originally the yurt was built around the "heating system" showing what's the most important thing is in the yurt. But americans and europeans gnerally place a WC(a sh*tting place) in the center of the yurt showing what's the most important for them and what represents them as a symbol.
