How To Build a YURT | Roof & Center Ring - Most Dangerous Part!
• How To Build a YURT | ... - Nicole and I are building our own Tiny House alone in the wilderness of the Canadian Rain Forest. Our Tiny House will be a Yurt. In this episode we continue working on the Yurt by installing all the Yurt Roof Rafters! Tomorrow will be the hardest day yet because the Top Cover of the Yurt Is So Incredibly Heavy. I honestly don't know how Nicole and I will get it on the roof alone! Comment Below, we read them all! Enjoy!
This Yurt build and Yurt life will be a journey, we hope you SUBSCRIBE and come with us! Enjoy #yurt #offgrid #tinyhouse #alone #livingoffgrid #garden #offthegrid #gardening #DIY
Nicole and I are attempting to live off the grid in British Columbia, Canada. We have 8 acres of forest property sandwiched in between the Pacific Ocean, a fresh water lake, and a stream which flows year round from the lake into the ocean. For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a "Raw Land" property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian "Great Bear Rain Forest". NicHolistic ( / holisticnicole ) and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. We will also have a lot of changes coming so get ready. More videos and BTS Clips at my VLOG channel / adventureswjakenicole

Jake, I have been watching you since you and Nicole started clearing the land. Very impressive what you two have done. I have wonder how well will the yurt hold heat in the winter months. I have never seen a yurt before and I am attracted to the concept. You two are doing a great job, keep up the good work, Thanks for shearing

Jake & Nicole - Thanks for the extra time before the premiere. We really enjoyed this episode as the yurt build is a very interesting process. Being able to see the detailed bits of how the yurt is put together and how you are not afraid to make (and admit) mistakes has really made it genuine. We had wondered about the roof tension cables, and how the beams were attached, and you did a great job sharing all the little details. Hardy has a week of sunny weather coming up so you should be able to make excellent progress on the build and so we look forward to seeing windows, roof, walls, floors, etc in the near future! Seeing how you furnish and decorate will also be very interesting as that's when your personalities will really show. Looking forward to the next episode. Congratulations on a record number of viewers for the premiere! Lance & Carol - Victoria

This second viewing of installing the rafters -- I still held my breath when you began those first 4, lol. Sorry you had to rotate the rafters, however, although it was time consuming it wasn't disasteous! YAY. Looking beautiful - getting closer to home sweet home - once it is all sealed up you'll have to do the happy dance. Great job guys :-).

It is very encouraging how well you and Nicole work together assembling the Yurt. The assembly is definitely a two person job and you and Nicole show a lot of patience making sure you get it right. It is obvious you need to read the directions more than once to understand the correct order of assembly.. You have to have a strong body the same as if you were building a log cabin. Wonderful video and a great job assembling the Yurt.

Not many of us would be able to assemble the yurt without a lot more help. Impressive! I really appreciate how careful, calculating and patient you are when you move about a dangerous task. By the way just in case you were wondering, a good way to get rid of or at the very least minimize by a lot the mosquito population around your yurt would be to cut down the fur trees around your property. Mosquitos don't like open areas and love dark moist areas and they love fur trees for some reason. I have a cabin on an island in Finland and once I got rid of most of the fur trees around my property leaving just the burch treese, pines, and generally open type trees the mosquitos population dropped almost to nothing. Just in case you were wondering, makes the nature experience a bit more tolerable I think.

SCAFFOLDING IS THE BEST CHOICE NO MATTER IF IT WAS TIME CONSUMING FOR YOU BUT IT WOULD OF BEEN LESS STRESSFUL & LESS SO DANGEROUS FOR YOU & YOUR WIFE.
