Dude this was cool! Watching you 2 interview Zilla and just hearing you guys go over what ESO’s state of the game is awesome! Also can I say as an avid pve’er turned pvp’er because of zilla this was awesome cause I personally use a stamblade from each of you guys and have found success due to the builds and learning how to use them. Rock on guys! 🤙🏻

I think a branch of ESO-U for pvp with the major pvp content creators publishing builds, group comps, and opinions could maybe bridge that gap between all the separate discord servers. Pretty much a large section of the ESO community as a whole is already there. Could be a start.

Fascinating conversation. The most interesting spot for me was around 1:29:00 where Nefas is trying to help Zilla understand the value of a semi-centralised, semi-organised PvP community. I really think it could help revitalise the game AND negate the inaccurate portrayal of PvP'ers as 'toxic'. Anyone who happens to watch the 6v6 collab from last month will see that these are humans having great fun playing a game :)

Why isn’t anyone talking about the likelihood that it is all the people running the Cronus Zen that is causing the lag? I’ve heard from insiders that roughly 50% of the Cyrodill population is running this device. They run a number of scripts in order to make themselves OP. Seems to me that the Zen is the likely culprit. And it’s emergence on the scene in gaming roughly coincides with when the lag began to be unplayable. Maybe ESO content creators are also using this device to make their 1vX clips look impressive and that’s why they’re not talking about it?

@@ChaddeusThaddeus it’s really common. The most common is macros that run perfect burst combos with the press of a button. Sometimes they can cheat the system and remove/reduce cooldowns to create otherwise impossible burst speeds. I also hear rumblings that they have found a way to run a parallel server that can succeed in hacking stats (something that used to be done on PC before they moved stats server side). This would make sens because I sometimes run into players who have an impossible combination of sustain, tankiness and damage. I know some people seem tanky due to cross healing. I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about guys running solo whose health bars barely move when I’m hitting them with my full rotation (5.5k WD and 11k pen) and then when they decide to hit me, they’re chunking my health bar despite my 35k resistances. And no matter how long I heal, they never run out of resources. It’s not possible to have a build that excels at everything like that. I have spent countless hours theory crafting and have come up with some pretty badass builds and I can confidently say that some of these people are hacking. But those that are doing this will deny it and just say “L2P” or “git gud”and all that.

@@TheRazorfraser for the health bar thing sometimes I run into that but as far as I was aware that was a desynch issue, but if what you're saying is possible I don't doubt people do it

The reason why no one knows where to start with PVP is because all the builds that are out there are super high damage 1 V X builds that require a super high scale cap to play. PVP contact creators need to scale it back a little bit and tailor more towards the beginner if they want the community to grow. There’s 1 billion beginner PVE build videos on KZbin. There’s 0 for PVP

I came to ESO from WoW (which I'd played for ~15 years) a few years ago. I don't exclusively PvP, but it is at least 50% of what I do in ESO (in WoW it was more like 90% (because there was literally nothing else to do, most of the time)). I can tell you in no uncertain terms, WoW's PvP "community" is (or was then) incomparable to ESO's, where 'level of toxicity' is concerned. WoW's PvP community is (~was), at its "most-friendly", a place where it was (and presumably still is) routine to see players harassed until they log off, report-bombed until the game logged them out, or systematically DDOS-ed into oblivion. And a racist joke about strangling or "R-wording" an infant would always get a laugh from at least a quarter of them. I agree with Nefas here, about ESO's PvP community needing any rallying point at all; beyond just the KZbin comment section. As I (and countless others) observed, as WoW's PvP community degraded from "dumpster-fire" to "ninth circle of hell"; one thing which seemed to be aiding in the _cultivation_ of that toxic PvP community, was a lack of any meaningful consequences for actual toxic behavior. WoW's forums have "rules", of course. But it's always been more about,.. [Blizzard]: _"will allowing this behavior get us in some sort of legal trouble? because if not, we give zero fucks! let those shit-hurling monkeys eat each other, for all we care!"_ Of course, ESO's official forums do have consequences, but they have failed utterly to serve as a platform where PvP discussion and community-building can take place...by being far _too_ strict. You simply cannot expect a space where _competitive people_ are discussing _the competition itself_ to remain Rated-G. That's just not going to happen... At least if there was a community Discord, then there _could_ be some consequences. The first problem with making such a community hub a reality is, PvP-ers (in general, of course) tend not to be possessed of personality-types which handle administration well. PvP-ers are drawn to the conflict by their competitive natures. Whereas (military analogy) Generals are often not even present at the battle. It takes a "General" to act as a rallying point, organize people, and maintain order.

I don't get why we don't have a capture the flag BG. How can we not have capture the flag!? Sure, it's objective-based; and some players don't like objectives. But it's not a static objective in the way these stupid capture-points are. I guess chaosball is kinda like capture the flag, but there is no destination! You just run until something kills you.. And this 4x4x4 crap.. 8x8x8 would be nice! Or a CP-active BG option; so we're not playing regressed versions of our characters. The BG themes we have (other than DM) just feel like they never conceptually evolved past being place-holders.
