ESP Guitars: Ken Susi Plays Ken Susi (Unearth)

We had a challenge for Ken Susi, guitarist and clean vocalist of Boston-based metalcore band Unearth. Bringing him into ESP headquarters, we tasked Ken with emulating the tones and playing styles of a number of other ESP signature artists who, like Ken, use Fishman Fluence pickups in their guitars. The results are outstanding! The rhythm sounded better in the active voicing where as the leads sounded better passive. The clarity in the active voice when he was trem picking was fucking incredible. And as much as I like Unearth, I would love to hear this guitar with Swivel tunes.

StraightFaceJake I personally think the other way around. I prefer the passive voicing for rhythm and the active for leads

Man that is such a cool 7 string!! That finish, the pickups, the whole look of that axe just does it for me. I reckon this would be a really cool fixed bridge compliment to my original 1990 Ibanez Universe signed by Steve Vai himself (my favourite 7 string guitar ever) :)

the only issue I have which makes me still debate on buying it is the 25.5 scale. should have made it 26.5 so you could tune a bit lower without intonation issues

Robert Frey I personally think Head's model looks better, but from what I know you don't get the gain decreasing feature on Head's model unlike Ken Susi's model

Thanks for the reply man. I actually went crazy and bought both models recently and I think the SH7 is indeed the better buy. Like you said you don't get the -6DB switch but otherwise it's all advantages. It has body bevels that do add a bit of comfort, locking tuners, it's $100 cheaper, and it has it's input jack in the right place. The KS7 actually has the input jack right next to the strap peg making sitting in classical position impossible without an L shaped cable
