After buying a series of cheap, poorly built, stifling guitars, I purchased a Black Cherry burst EC-256. I wanted the Cobalt Blue, which Jon also liked, but the store had the Black Cherry in stock, so I took it. The Thin U neck allows me to play a barred F chord without wrist and thumb pain for the first time. Even without locking tuners, it remains in tune nicely. I wish I had not waited so long to acquire it. Jon's video is a year old, but it is just as relevant today. Excellent vlog!

I would be totally divided between this and the blue version Jon. They both sound sweet to me and really well made. Indonesia is a badge of quality these days. I imagine that a jobbing musician would rather take this gigging than risking their more expensive brands to the hazards of stage and it would be just as good. Excellent demo Jon. Thanks 👍👍👍😄

Great playing! I bought this model in satin black, I am going to make a few changes, like roller bridge, locking tuners, and I am contemplating changing the pickups to Seymour Duncan humbuckers, not sure which model yet, but I want a more jazz sound, although you make the ones it comes with sound good!

Bought this guitar today (same finish, even) in a pawn shop for £240. Pre-owned, but seemingly never used. No dings, and zero fret-wear. Been bumming this guitar all day/night. Love it! Basically a shred-friendly LP with a coil-tap, but if you're watching this then you knew that already. If I'm honest the only thing I'm underwhelmed by is the coil-tap/split. Gets nowhere near to a a Stratocaster sound, which isn't the stated-aim I guess but you know that when you first pop that coil-splitter your brain is expecting SRV, and it just doesn't get you there. I swear it's still retaining it's humbucking ability in single-coil mode as well. Everything else about this guitar has been top-drawer. I only stepped out to get some stupid stuff and saw this guitar in the pawn shop window. Caught my eye as I was walking past because it looks like an unburst LP at a glance. Asked the nice lady in the shop if I could play it, and was sold as soon as I held it. Extremely-heavy.. now that's a proper LP!

I bought this model like 10 years ago, the guitar was pretty terrible but I still use it quite alot because it looks so damn good (goldtop version), I love to bring it to gigs (death metal/black metal). The tuners are bad and feel cheap, the pick ups sound bad, the fret work is bad. Also the Truss rod broke without ever dropping or hitting the guitar and had to have that repaired. I changed the pick ups to dimarzio super distortion that sure made the guitar sound 10 times better and also put locking tuners on it and that fixed the tuning issues I had with it. I don't know if the build quality is better now but I would not recommend getting this model.

Most ESP players tend to play through the bridge pickup for metal playing so they put the most used bridge and volume knob together. But I don't think it would take much to swap them around by a tech if you wanted it in the other direction. Personally I'd like to see them do the 4 knob configuration especially on the full thickness versions.

This guitar is perfect for who like the LP look but can't stand with his weight and fat neck thing... This LTD has a really slim fast neck, really confortable, body is thinner, it's very lightweight, and to my taste (sorry gibson) it sounds better, more clear and articulate. It's absoltutely a winner. Great review Jon, like always.

Jon do you think the ltd ec 1000 is worth the extra money over the 256? the 1000 is 24 fret with locking tuners and seymour duncans. this 256 sounds great and i prefer 22 frets. don't want to have buyers remorse either way.

Hated the nut on the guitar. Wasn't real crazy about the. Fretts being so high had it set up by four different professionals around Orlando Florida you can hardly touch a string to a fret without it going totally Sharp
