What legends played in this game, and tournament. The high fame of the world cup makes us forget that theres football in the olympics too, with players who would later become legends such as Xavi and Eto’o who not only became best players of all time for their countries and legends as a whole, but teammates at barcelona where they shared many glory years and both became club legends.

Xavi and Puyol later won Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010, together with Iniesta, Torres, and Villa. Later on, Xavi and Spain won Euro 2012 and lost to Brazil in 2013 Confederations Cup. Eto'o also won UEFA Champions League 2009 with Barcelona, whose team was entered the golden era with Guardiola as coach, Messi and Henry, becoming the treble. Later on, Eto'o won again as Inter Milan with Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder, and again, golden era with Mourinho.

There was the 16 years old goal keeper Kameni. Imagine you're 16 years old and win a gold medal at the olympic games in Sydney against Spain with Puyol and Xavi and you are responsible that your nation is the first african nation who win the gold medal. I remember when I saw him playing at Malaga in the 12-13 season and I have never seen a penalty killer like him. Malaga was with him very strong and they reach the quarter finals in the champions league.

The refs did more than enough to help out your team in that game. Cameroon was called for 42 fouls vs 15 for Brazil, had two men sent off, and you'all still couldn't win. In fact Cameroon's winning goal was scored 9 v. 11. Give it a rest, dude.

I was at this game, all I remember was a teenage girl with her mother behind me and my mum and for the entirety of the match she yelled out "Boo Spain, Yay Cameroon". I never understood why riots happened in soccer until that moment 😕

Had they had VAR back then that last minute goal by Eto’o would have stood, clearly onsides but that’s football 🙂. They still went on to win it in penalties. Spains defense was incredible and really locked down in extra time.

The refereeing is stupid ! A yellow card shown to the Spanish player for being theatrical while the Cameroonian gets away with a clear savage elbow ! Samuel Etto's goal is not offside! He was clearly on side ! I felt Spain will regret missing that penalty in the end ! Spain missing that penalty is so unlucky! What's lucky is that Cameroon scoring one of their goals with pure luck! It was a cross that found its way to goal with the help of a Spanish defender!
