This is a very cool video. We could do the x and y direction to move a camera on a pan-tilt mechanism.

SUBSCRIBED!! This project would be fairly easy to adapt into a gimbal-based pan/tilt security camera that automatically points towards the action.

Holy Moly, in my area the your link for the ESP cam took to me to a page where they were trying to sell them for $40 x 2 = $80 package. Talk about a markup!!! Nice project BTW! thumbs up from me.

Great project, thanks for sharing. In my mock up, my motor does not line up with the forward facing head. Everytime I plug it it, it seems to want to rotate 90 deg counter-clock-wise. Is there a "centering routine" I'm missing or is it just me?

Hello. I'm from Poland. I liked your project. Currently working on a vehicle that uses electric skateboard software and controllers. In the first version, the vehicle is controlled by a joystick connected to ESP32, which connects to ESP32 via WIFI. This works very nice! I thought it would be worth the vehicle that was driven using this ESP32-CAM. Could you suggest how to do this? I think that the current look of the code will not be suitable because the vehicle is supposed to appear behind a moving object and the current ESP32-CAM is not moving. It only does this when the object is moving. Stop and follow the object. It won't work for me. thank you for every tip.

I managed to install the ESP32 camera software myself. But now I want to ask how do I set the camera to record something and how can I see what is on the card without removing the card ? Can I see online what is on the card?

In your video you hook (+) on the terminal block to the (-) of the stepper driver board (at 4:48). Did you release the magic smoke?

@@MakersMashup I’m trying to get this to work. I’ve tried 2 stepper boards and 3 motors and none of them move. I see the lights blink on the boards as if it were trying to make the motor move. Any suggestions. I have 3 boards and 2 more motors to try out. Maybe on an arduino first to simplify things. I am using an UNO to monitor the serial output and the ESP32 is picking up movements like I expect.
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
if the lights are blinking then you should be moving the steppers just fine. It sounds like you have power and its trying to turn. Is the stepper just not moving? Might be easier if you hopped into the discord it a bit hard to troubleshoot through YT comments. :)

I like how you keep a scope on your wall. Lol it's the new hantek with the crappy signal gen. Better than my old hantek though hahaha those little USB breakout boards are great
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't have any problem with the signal generation. I'd be curious to know what issues you had with it so I can avoid them. I keep it there because its fast and easy access without taking up space on the bench. :)
@jstro-hobbytech

@@MakersMashup I was only joking man because I have the super old one and I had to buy a 60mhz 2 chan signal gen. It is only 25 mhz with one output but it's very cool looking with a better fpga and the same price as my old slow 5102p still is. Which is weird. I actually had the opportunity to buy your model today at a very good price from a buddy but couldn't because someone broke in and trashed my workshop 3 weeks ago and insurance got out of paying, of course. So I'm just replacing bits at a time. Funny how much it costs to buy the bare minimum to be back up and running. My printers, scope and soldering station survived. Multiple guitars, 2 pcs, 3 monitors, almost my ps5 but they pulled the hdmi port out when they yanked on it so they left it. I fixed it. Anyway I was joking because my scope sucks sorry if it came off like I was being a dick.
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
Didn't think that at all Joey. With China goods it's often hit or miss so I was indeed concerned that it might have an issue to avoid like signal duration varying or some nonsense. It's all good.

@jstro-hobbytech

That's a good idea, I moved to a new space for my workshop and I have no idea where to put mine haha. I'm happy you weren't offended, I don't word things right and people think I'm a troll sometimes when I'm not. The worst part about the break is the guitars, I always keep one in arm's reach. I could buy a cheap one and upgrade it with parts I've accumulated but I'm just gonna save up for a decent one. Get a buddy in the US to buy it and ship it to avoid the gross customs tax we pay in Canada lol

I started printing the driver box and it appears there is a lip holding the face up 0.2mm so it doesn’t print. In CURA I set the z to -0.2 to lower the model. Prints fine now (using 0.2 z steps)

Great project. I attempted to put it together but the stepper produces only limited movement. In the code STEPS_PER_SECOND is set to 4096. Is this a bit high? This number looks like the setting for steps per revolution (half-stepping), but there is no code for steps per revolution. Most of the examples I've seen set STEPS_PER_SECOND to about 500. Help would be appreciated. Thanks
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
My understanding some steppers may require a different value. The config values at the top like STEPS_PER_SECOND you can tune to fit your set of steppers. Also if you're trying to trigger movement very close you may have difficulty. This works much better when you're further away.

It seems like there is an error in the code: the capture_still() method should have : "esp_camera_fb_return(frame_buffer);" at the end of it, without it it can only capture the first image.

How can you seal it for out door use
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
I was not planning on sealing it but rather to use a sheet of clear plastic you can get from any fabric store. It's flexible and would only require a small hole for the base. The sensing unit can be sealed with some silicone caulk in clear.
