One issue I've had with battery powered wifi is the inconsistent time to connect to wifi. 2-8sec is not uncommon

Thank you sir. I was looking for exactly that for my home assistant. Would you mind sharing what are you using for the power profiler? I am starting to learn how to design my own boards using esp and I would like to see the efficiency of the one I am designing.

I use a power profiler kit from Nordic semiconductors. It's a handy tool to have to measure power usage.

@@paulprice Thank you for your quick reply. For future reference, unfortunately ESPHome doesn't support wake up on gipio5. I'm going to try jumping it to gpio4 and see if it works. Thank you again for this sensor, it's very nice.

Oh I didn't realize that. Thanks for letting me know. I'll make a note of that for my next revision of these boards to use a different GPIO that esphome can use. You should be able to connect a jumper wire from the signal pin on the back of the board to another GPIO pins. That should work. And thanks!

Please start shipping to Europe on your Tindie store, nice product!

I ship to the EU/UK via lectronz as they can handle VAT while tindie can't. www.lectronz.com/stores/smartbeedesigns The new version of the bee motion is available for pre order via CrowdSupply and ships to the EU/UK. www.crowdsupply.com/smart-bee-designs/bee-motion-s3

OMG I found your video right on time I'm looking to connect LED strips on my stairs this board is just what I need with you help I think I can do it if you could all I need is a wiring diagram or video showing me how to hook a all up please help
@paulprice Жыл бұрын
Definitely possible to do. Are you looking at just a white LED strip or an RGB led strip? Either way, all you'd really need to do is connect the data line of the strip to a GPIO pin on the board and ground. And then power the strip with an external power supply. I'd recommend 5v led strips that way you can power the strip and the board off the same power supply. This particular board in the video is no longer being made, but I have a new version called the Bee Motion S3 that has a lot more features built in, like a ambient light sensor which could be handy for only turning in the lights when it's dark out. www.tindie.com/products/smartbee/bee-motion-s3-esp32-pir-motion-sensor/

@@paulprice ok so do I need to get two boards ?
@paulprice Жыл бұрын
@@tonyrollin402 that's up to your use case. If you wanted to turn on the lights when entering from both the top and bottom of the stairs then you'd probably need 2, one at each end to monitor for motion.

According to Tindie, I see you are no longer making these. Is that likely to change?

They've been replaced by a new version with a lot of improvements over the original. They're available now here - www.crowdsupply.com/smart-bee-designs/bee-motion-s3
