playing in grixis control, its really good against anyone especailly if you use sorrow for heal and kill so siphon can be used as additional heal for March of Wretched Sorrow ye sometimes using it to draw additional land early or bite enemy in their turn for counter i really miss my old girxis with azcanta and bolas i remember playing that deck there was alot of stuff to discard, with bolas or saga steal anything, there was also 3 mana card that allows you to use enemy grave yard and cast it as much as you have mana:) counters spells that bring your ehcant back and you put it again you draw they discard :D, i also liked mastermind aquisition so i could put answers in sideboard and take it with that spell if i play vs some dirty combo deck to delete their win con early that was insane grixis ramped me in mythic. was fun season

30:50 I wish you would have talked about why you didn't play out the land here. I am trying to think it through and to me I keep thinking I would have played the land. But maybe it was because you wanted to encourage Liliana to plus instead of minus because you wanted to keep the creature? I don't know though, they ended up easily getting rid of your creature anyway. But if you kept the land so you could discard it to a Liliana plus, that makes no sense to me, since you could have just cast the Siphon Insight in response to the ability anyway and had an empty hand so Lily only would have made THEM discard and not you, if you had played out that land.

You ever tried Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh? He makes Bankbusters free to use once on your turn and once on their turn, so if you have 2 out it's a bit ridiculous. Once you hit a critical mass of artifacts in your deck his +1 is always draw 2 discard 1. I've made various UW versions of the deck running Ambitious farmhands and Spirited Companions and Steel Seraph's for the turn 3 Bankbuster lifelink swing. I've tried one version that reanimates Portal to Phyrexia and another version that runs Urza and Mightstone and Weakstone. It's not tier 1, but it's fun as.

I've been enjoying Tezz as a one-off in my creature-focused Esper decks for the past week or so. I'm actually considering adding another to my most recent build. I haven't done enough testing to know if it's anything more than a fun meme deck, but it's built around Faerie Vandal, Thopter Mechanic, Raffine, and Steel Seraph as the creature load-out. The idea is to make use of Raffine and/or Bankbuster to continually plus Vandal/Mechanic in the early game, dropping Steel Seraph for life-link shenanigans and then taking over the game with Planeswalkers. It's entirely possible that the Faerie Vandal + Thopter Mechanic shtick is entirely unnecessary and that the deck is being carried by powerful Esper staples like The Wandering Emperor, Wedding Announcement, Raffine, Teferi, etc.

Good explanation... so that's why siphon insight works, I always thought it was luck before. Get them low on cards, make sure you have card advantage, clear the field, and then just control the top of their deck. They have to get even more lucky to top deck and it is frustrating for them!

I decided to make the izzet aggro deck you featured a few days ago and I didn't have the wild cards for ledger shredder so I swapped in for 4 copies of antagonize, +4/+3 for a 2 mana instant seems good for this deck but getting blown out of the water by removal is bad. Curious for your thoughts.

I think that you're on the money with this, in that getting blown out of the water by removal is such a bad blowout for a deck that often wins by small margins that it's unlikely to be worth it as more than maybe a 2 of? I'm not the great CGB, and I do think the idea of having some number of them is not BAD per se, but I think that going for the full 4 is unlikely to be correct. Just my 2 cents :)

I’d say that combat tricks in general are bad outside of limited. The only reason to include them is if the deck is built around it, like Feather decks, or it is going to win you the game basically on the spot, like with Temur Battle Rage in Deaths Shadow decks.
