All the Portuguese communities in Hawaii are from the Madeira Islands and they just call it tada its. So good using Hawaiian rock salt or as the Hawaiian people call it pa’a Kai

My family is from Portugal but when my mum came to Australia a lot Portuguese dishes were lost I'm 1st generation Australian and have two boys I want to show them our culture food so the tradition isn't lost thank you for this video

Thank you, it’s great to keep tradition going. One of the main reasons I make these videos so my daughters and younger family members hopefully have and easy to follow recipe that they can make for their families or future families.

My family is from Madeira, I was born in Angola and been in Australia 50 years. Espetada is something I do couple times a year. I went to Madeira and Portugal for the first time last year. Highly recommended...

My great grandparents were from Madeira and tonight I was asking my mom about what dishes they would cook. She said at every family bbq (1950s time period) her grandfather would cook kebabs marinated in red wine, so I just had to find a recipe which led me here. Good stuff, thanks.

That is awesome!🍻

I think that meat marinated in red wine is carne em vinha d'alhos, very tradicional in Madeira, espetada isn't marinated.

Forget my previous question. I did my research. You had posted a picture in this video with a background of a fire pit that looked very familiar. I grew up going to that place. My uncle used to help out a lot there.

our family keeps a bucket of rock salt with midsummer bayleaves (best time of year for oils in the leaf) chopped into it. After skewering the meat (preferably on the bay plant skewers), use the bay infused salt and after a nice hot grill serve around the family straight off the skewer.
@JustCookwithMichael2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea. I have a A few Bayleaf trees and I always have rocksalt but I never thought of combining them to infuse the flavor. Thanks🍻
