Not Michael Roberts's finest hour, although an Arc with 24 runners is rarely an easy race to ride.

Motor lost nothing in defeat. He was a fantastic horse, won 2 Eclipse and a King George. The 1987 Eclipse Stakes when he outpointed Reference Point was one of the best races I have ever seen.

Terrible ride from mace Robert's. He was in no mans land from an outside draw but got the horse in a terrible position and was beaten on a vastly superior horse
