wanted barton bank for a lucky 15 that day. still have nightmares about it 18 years later. cost me £15000.

He was one of my favourite horses but every race he ran in he would make a mistake .Lumped on him at wetherby in the Charlie hall he fell with the race won.

Barton Bank had injury issues which made it very difficult for him to shorten into a fence. Not much Maguire could do.

Was sitting on £20 @ 7-2 was gutted on the day .I think it was jockey error perhaps a rush of blood. The superb Johnny francombe and AP McCoy would have popped him over .Adrian is human and we all make mistakes.

Barton Bank had an long-term injury issue which made popping over fences very difficult. Maguire's also said that the felt Barton Bank emptying on the run-in to the last and if he'd popped over he'd have lost.

Was living in Sydney pre internet days obviously, woke and rushed down to get my copy of the Morning Herald and there was a pic on the front page of poor old Adrian and Barton arse over tit at the last, wonderful horse all the same and a great jockey, even though both accident prone, thanks for posting this, first time I.ve seen it, thank you.

I've had bad days punting but that is still my worst day. Not for the amount I lost, only £50 but for how much I would've won. Had a five timer, first 4 won, would've been five figures had he stood up. Gutted.

dont think maguire did anything wrong. barton bank was that type of horse you had to gun into a fence and ask him! maguire got a lot of shit for that but i dont think he did much wrong
