Great story. Just signed my 9 year old son up for his first season of lacrosse, which begins in Spring 2014. I will definitely share this video with him prior to the start of training.

I had the pleasure/misfortune of being the goalie on the Swarthmore team mentioned in this video, when we played Morgan State during our spring break in 1971. The Bears were impressive athletes, but also very sportsmanlike - they played hard but clean. And they beat us 7-3 or so. I can assure you there were no racial epithets from our team - that would have been most un-Quakerlike!

I went to school with some of these guyz. I grew up across the street from Wayne Jackson's Wife. I played football with some of these guyz. I'm proud to be able to say these things.

The only color that should matter in sports is the color of the jersey, not skin color

However, that's just not the case for White Americans. Case in point...

I got into the game at Edmondson High School in 1967 in Baltimore. Got on a bus and grabbed a long defenseman stick thinking it to be a bus handle. White folks clowned me out and I was determined to learn about the game. When I went to Morgan I played goalie and defenseman on the first team. I knew Miles Harrison who played in High School for Forest Park. So glad he helped form the first team. I still follow the game and hope it continues to grow in the Black community.
