Just because he was found not guilty of the charges against him does not mean he did not kill those people… anyone with half a brain knows he killed them.. and the only reason he was found not guilty was because Marcia Clark and Chris Darden went for gold with the charges. If they don't uphold the ban and eventually let him in, that sends a message to current players that they can do the same, be reprimanded for a period of time, but it'll ultimately amount to a slap on the wrist and no lasting punishment is worth worrying about.

As far as what Stephen A. is saying, Pete himself never fully says he's sorry. Just watch interview after interview year after year with Pete and listen to how he talks about baseball (and how passionate he is), and then listen to how he talks about his gambling and how different he is in presenting his case. Lifelong Reds fan. I remember when Pete came up and replaced Don Blasingame in 1963 and followed his entire career. I loved him as a ballplayer. But he broke the one rule in baseball that can't be broken. Gambling very nearly destroyed the game a century ago. No rule in sports is more clear than the rule against gambling. I personally feel the same way about the cheaters who've been juiced. You don't deserve a second chance when your 'mistake' jeopardizes the credibility of the entire sport/business. I know I'm in a minority among Reds fans, but that's the way it is.

get the fuck over it. He was bored as a manager so he put some money on it. He never bet on them to lose. Sitting in that dugout when you were a player for 26 years is boring as fuck. He was a winner his whole life. he was just looking for a little competitive excitement. What he did never effected the outcome of a game. The entire steroid generation effected baseball history. Stop being dumb and brainwashed its fucking sickening how stupid you sound
@buckfan19697 жыл бұрын
I want the steroid boys out of baseball too. As for the rest of your juvenile comments, you're talking out your ass. You don't know if what he did affected the outcome of any game. And boredom is no excuse for violating the cardinal rule of baseball repeatedly.

That was nearly 30 years ago. let go ,forgive, and forget. Pete Rose BELONGS in the Baseball Hall of Fame, and you KNOW it.
@buckfan19697 жыл бұрын
If Rose belongs in the HOF, so does Joe Jackson. It's been a century since Jackson helped throw the 1919 World Series and he was a much better player than Rose. After that, where do you draw the line?

"If Rose belongs in the HoF, so does Joe Jackson... (H)e was a much better player than Rose." Then what are we waiting for? *LET'S GET IT STARTED!*

His biggest mistake is when he came back to the Reds as a player manager. The moment he bet in a position of power, he also did it as a player because his contract stated his role be 2 positions, an active player & manager. If Rose had just retired as an active player, he doesnt break Ty Cobb's record, but he'd definitely be forgiven for his betting days as manager. But his case today was laid to rest when Lou Piniella took over for him the season after his ban & went wire to wire & won a WS championship in 1990. That was a total indictment on Pete Rose: what did he do wrong with that team that Lou got so right? Keep out!
@easyenetwork2023 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but Pete also built most of the core of that team along with the GM. But Lou also had to manage egos and injuries too.

He should not be in the hall of fame. Nothing can be proven as to whether or not he paid off people to play poorly or made decisions as a coach that negatively effected his team just to make some extra money. If he did do these things, then the statistics of baseball and people's careers were changed by his wrongdoings. I do however feel he should not be banned from the MLB, he is a changed man and deserves to be a part of the organization he once represented. What he did as a player and coach should keep him out of the hall of fame, but he deserves forgiveness for what he did. I feel he regrets these decisions and should not be banned from the MLB, he already has it bad enough having one of the greatest careers of all time and not being allowed in the HOF

I don't know. He lied about betting for 15 years, finally "comes clean" but said he never bet against his own team. Who knows?And his bats were corked. That's like PED's for singles hitters.

Many say Michael Jordan was allegedly betting on basketball in the 90's. During his first retirement press conference he stated, "Five years down the road, if the urge comes back, if the Bulls will have me, if David Stern lets me back in the league, I may come back." Why would he say if David Stern will have him back? It sounds like he was forced out, and to save face he retired quietly. He was under investigation for gambling prior to his retirement. In fact, the day he retired the investigation stopped. Some give that as a reason he left basketball the first time. If Michael Jordan had bet on basketball like Pete Rose bet on baseball, than there is no reason Pete Rose is not in the hall of fame today...
@easyenetwork2023 Жыл бұрын
It is a well known fact that he was told to retire to avoid a scandal. Not sure I can blame Stern if he told him lay low for two years to let the gambling not get out in the open.
@michaelhuebner68435 жыл бұрын
The reason baseball is so against gambling is because of the Chicago Black Sox who bet on themselves to lose the world series and purposefully lost the series to win their bets. This act almost killed MLB and MLB had to take drastic steps to ban any form of gambling In the sport of baseball. Now that being said, Pete Rose only bet on baseball when he was a manager and never as a player. This is a tough topic because if you understand the historical origin of gambling in baseball you can understand why this was so serious, but Rose did this after he retired from playing baseball. I think the Hall of Fame should acknowledge his accomplishments as a player but never give him a plague or shrine like other players.
@easyenetwork2023 Жыл бұрын
That was not what killed it almost, wasn’t that when even with Ruth, it was a dead ball era?

Rose compromised the integrity of the entire game. Unforgivable. It’s the absolute worst thing you can do.

Pete is the literal undisputed GOAT in baseball by the numbers. On the field, he has more value than Barry Bonds, Sosa, Ken Griffey JR (who is top 3 all time), even more value on the field than Bryce Harper and Mike Trout at this moment, can hit the ball better than any player I just listed left and right handed, PLAYED AS A PLAYER/MANAGER, and has a host of all time records (Ichiro hit 2000 hits in minor league china ball where 80% of players couldn't lace petes cleats), 0 roids, 0 PED's, all organic, Charlie Hustle us the GOAT of all baseball.
