The NCAA had a chance to get ahead of this 35 years ago but chose to remain obstinate about the fallacy of amateurism that never existed in the first place. At this point they better come to the reality that they need some form off a union to collectively bargain everything from compensation to roster limits & even player movement.

How about the fallacy that they are "students."

Okay, I'm honestly unaware of what it's like these days. But I'm going by Saved by the Bell in the 90s. Is it true that the primary men's sports in colleges pays for other sports, particularly for women? Sure Caitlin Clark's team may hold their own in revenue, but I saw some pretty bad women's basketball games last weekend. I think Texas Tech's women's team only scored 4 points in a whole quarter. Don't think too many people come out to see them.

The Federal government doesn't want oversight? IMO they want oversight in everything.

Disgusting. They are not students anyway. Take away the scholaship money pretense, get them out of the dorms, and make them sponsored minor league NFL teams. Pay them the way minor league baseball players are paid -- little.

football makes exponentially more $ than basement so it wouldn't be little like minor league baseball

They can't do what MLB does with the minor leagues because they haven't bought an anti-trust exemption from congress.

@@KingJon513 Not exponentially, but yes, more for sure. But just have an "Alabama" minor league team affiliated with some NFL team, let them play in Tuscaloosa, but quit pretending that kids who can't speak or write a sentence in English are "students." And by the way, the comp science and bio majors make more money for most schools than the football teams. And they are real students. Why not pay them too?

@@ak203 name me one non athletic program at a school that brings in 10s-100 of millions. there is no comp science or bio program that is bringing in more money dan use football or duke basketball

@ak203 a quick Google search shows the avg college baseball program earns 1.5Ms while the avg college football program generates 20Ms. So yes, exponentially more. Those students should get paid and most are through stipends and grants.

Do professors share salaries, grant writing and chairman money with students?
@kenyattaclay76668 ай бұрын
Okay, that’s the dumbest goddamn start in this subject ever & that’s saying something. Here’s the biggest problem with that stupid argument, students don’t generate money coming into the schools but the athletes do.

Well....grant and research money blows sports money out of the water. It's why Cowherd yelling about jealous pencil neck chemistry professors in regards to how much Saban made at Alabama was profoundly dumb. That said, THOSE students do get paid. @@kenyattaclay7666
