I grew up in Nashville watching Peyton play for the Vols. I know it may be hard to believe, but Peyton was a solid scrambler in college. As a young qb, he was a much better athlete than people give him credit for! Eli was also a solid scrambler in college. Once in the NFL, both of them were smart enough to stay in the pocket! Yeah honestly no. Didn't really show much here at all. Before anyone says it.. I'm a giants fan so needless to say I'm also a Manning cultist, rooting for this kid as hard as anyone. He still looks like a child out there, he's physically underdeveloped relative to his peers. On the mental side: first tuck and run he missed a wide open reciever, 2nd one he locked onto his first read for too long, and the final pass.. I mean anyone here could make that read/throw. Roll em out, cut the field in half, and there's a reciever squating at 5 yards which he pretty much lollipopped in there. Which after watching him in training camp, his arm strength is legitimately concerning. But virtually none of this necessarily means a thing, it's his first action (nerve levels have to be off the charts) at a level I honestly don't think he's ready for. But let's not act like he really did anything here. We've seen freshmen far more capable. But all that matters is 3 years down the road, and I hope he continues to grow. Football needs the Mannings. Cool to see them getting him some developmental reps though.

What I liked was him sliding (with great form!) after his first scramble and seeing him keep his eyes down the field when forced out of the pocket. It shows how technically sound he is football-wise, given his family and all. Most 19-year-old QBs don’t show that much poise in their first appearance. It pisses me off that people are saying he needs to transfer. He’s a true freshman backing up one of the best QBs in the country, what happened to learning,paying your dues and sticking it out? Now apparently if you’re not the starting QB during the spring before your true freshman season, you would transfer

As a college qb, Peyton used to be a solid scrambler. Once he got to the NFL, he was smart enough to stay in the pocket. When Peyton was young, he was a much better athlete than people gave him credit for. Arch looks like a much more athletic version of Peyton and Eli. Arch's father was also a college football player. I think he was a wr, but suffered a career ending neck injury. Kid looked great in limited action!
@ruthbrower8152
@ruthbrower8152 6 ай бұрын
Technically, Cooper didn’t suffer a career ending neck injury. He suffered a neck injury that prompted further up at the Mayo Clinic. That work up showed that he had a congenital neck deformity called spinal stenosis. They told him that if he continued playing football, he would likely be paralyzed.
@Publicenemy85
@Publicenemy85 Күн бұрын
Good point. I do remember Peyton’s Tennessee years, and yes like you said his scrambling game was decent. He adjusted his game when he went pro. Smart thing to do when you consider that scrambling QB’s don’t typically last very long (RG3, Vince Young) in the NFL.

For some reason I like that Peyton got him to not pat the ball before his release, Its cool to see that he listens, its such a natural thing for QBs to do but Peyton thought it wasted time. Its funny to see Arch does the same thing. Caleb, Shedeur etc all those guys pat it first & then throw. It does not make him better or worse its JUST cool to see. Even TB12 patted the ball before throwing so both ways obviously works.
