As a Celtics fan sinc 1960 I’ve seen some of the great play the game. So thankful that he was one of the first, someone who won long before he came to the Celtic. He gave us his great talent on the floor. He did so much With regard to social issues that affect this country negatively! He followed in Jackie Robinson’s footsteps… I know he will rest in peace, I’m sure you will be missed by many who know you personally.

I didn't know much about Bill Russell watching basketball here in the UK as a kid in the 90s, but whenever the camera would cut to him if he was watching a game courtside the tone of the commentators voices would change, I could tell as a 13/14 year old that he wasn't just a great player from the past but something greater.

His laugh is so full of color and genuine happiness, the way he lived his life reflected that. When the day comes in a life such as his must end we must continue the legacy. He has been in basketball for my whole life and being a fan seeing him at old age being so involved with the nba still all the way to the end. We have lost elgin baylor, muhammad ali, bill russell and MLK. All the men who fought for our freedom of being yourselves are passing on. As a mixed person i thank him for everything, i miss him already :(
