1. Cause 80% of coaching is offensive playcalling, 10% is defensive playcalling and 10% is everything else. Defensive coaches don't got much power in the outcome of games. Dennis Allen was a better version of Glenn and even he failed. No matter how good a DC is - the OC will always have more power. And then they are conservative in game management and clock management. And usually the OC they pick is conservative. Dan Quinn is smart. Shannahan carried him to a SB and Kingsbury is close to carrying him to another one. 2. As game moved more offense especially with the 2010 rule changes - great defenses can't really stop great offenses anymore. And playcalling on offense is harder and a few can do it. Its way more complex than just calling a cover 2 like Lovie Smith did. And defense also its way more supporting cast based. OCs directly impact QBs stats. The truly special OCs inflate them. Thats why you see backup QBs like Purdy, Tua, Alex Smith, Garrapolo, Malik Willis have great stats in the Shannahan, Reid, Lafleur offenses.

Dan Campbell was a Lion. There are certain guys who truly value what it means to be apart of those teams more so than ppl who have never been associated with them. The Jets have a guy that WANTED to be their HC since day 1. That’s the kind of mentality you want your coach to have. Stephen A is acting like this Cause he was labeled a sell out by Terrell Owens. He made money by talking down on athletes and tearing them apart. He became rich with no sports talent and cause He had connections. Skip Bayless threw him a lifeline. And to keep his image among the black community he now has to overcompensate. Nobody really does this except some analysts who just flat out hate white people or somekne like this trying to overcompensate. Ryan Clark is an example. Stephen A is a sellout but not in the sense black people label him. Thats why. He doesn't really care about Glenn. And most blaxk people don'r care whether he will be good or not. They care about representation. Ask Kwame Brown or Allen Iverson abkut Stephen A. Ask Terrell Owens. Everyone knows what type of snake he is. And now he even dares to talk down On Bayeless. Plot twist about Glenn : He is a bad head coach. Jets are heading for 3 straight seasons of 4 to 6 wins. Defensive coaches always end up bad unless Brady/Peyton level player at QB to carry them drag them down the field (nobody now comes close to that level. Not even Allen. Josh Allen is by far the best among QBs rn) but thats rare - the most commin way is - they got what Dan Quinn got in Kingsbury or Shannahan to carry them and once they leave its ashes and dust. Offensive playcalling is 80% of coaching. Genious offensive playcallers can make bad QBs like 2010 Vick, 2017 Alex Smith, 2022 Tua or 2023 Purdy lead in passer rating. Its an offensive llaycallers league. Great defensive minds have no hope vs great offensive minds since 2010. If you pair a great QB with a great playcaller Matt Ryan/Shannahan or Reid/Mahomes - you better have god at QB like Patriots did at QB or a strong combo of your own QB/offensive playcaller (talking bout Real great QBs not frauds and real good playcallers not McDaniels and Gase who put cones in Peytons and Bradys practices. What will really be different for Glenn compared to Saleh ? Saleh was a good DC too. Your hands are just tied as a DC. 80% of coaching is offensive playcalling. 10% is DC. 10% is the other stuff. Ben Johnson was the smartest hire.

It’s very possible for Jets HC Aaron Glen to find serendipity like Dan Quinn in Washington by reviving Jets defense and getting a spark from the “QB position” where, currently, Rogers doubles as an on-field OC. Glen proved he can handle big personalities at Detroit but wildcard will be Rogers’ ability to work with another assembly line of coaches. I don’t see this lesser, grizzled version of Rogers subjugating himself for the betterment of “the entire team” especially during a partial rebuild that includes the QB position.

Every coach, every single coach bar none has had to go through rough patches before they started to win, even coaches like Andy Reid or bill belichick, or Tom coughlin. I think you need to give a coach at least 2 and probably closer to 3 years before you make a decision like that. Now, after 3 years if the coach has lost the locker room, and or the respect of the players, or the team makes a big time regression then yes it's time to make a change. But, you can't make that decision after one year. Dan Campbell had a 3 win season in his first year, probably a lot of fans calling in on sports radio in Detroit were wanting him to be fired. A coach needs time to build a winning culture it doesn't just happen magically in one year, like the bad news bears.

How many black coaches are there in the league? Just because you shout someone out for hiring multiple black coaches, when the rest of the league hasn’t done the same. It doesn’t make it about race. All these coaches black and white are qualified. It’s just an acknowledgement and not the main story. He spent 20 seconds talking about it. What’s so wrong with that?

Aaron Glenn to HC the JETS is LITERALLY Robert Saleh all over again. Brilliant DC, loved by players, well respected, coming from a winning coaching tree, etc. to the same utterly dysfunctional organization & still lacking the QB needed to win.🤷♂ Definition of Insanity?

What are you even talking about. Jets never fired a HC after just 1 season unlike the Patriots. They gave Saleh enough time to turn it around but he failed. Firing him after 5 games in the middle of the season wasn't the best move but he had 3 full seasons in NY all of them with a losing record

That’s one thing i respect about Woody Johnson he’s not a raw fro give a black man or minority an opportunity from Herm Edwards Todd Bowles Robert saleh n now Aaron Glenn n the next GM might be black if they Trey brown which I think is going to happen as a jets fan for the pass 30 years hopefully we’re turning this thing around

Great DCs never make good head coaches unless the OC carries them. 80% of coaching is offensive playcalling. Glenn is a good DC. Like a lesser Dennis Allen. And we know how Allen failed. Dan Quinn is smart and lucky. He had Shannahan to carry him then and Kingsbury now. Once Shannahan left Atlanta went do dust. So will Washington if Kingsbury when he leaves. You identify a great OC (they inflate QB stats) and you make him your HC. Saleh was a good DC. He failed as well. What will the difference be Saleh and Glenn ?

@@vincente4570 if he gets Hired - its over for them. If Slowik leaves Houston - its over for them too. Its over for Detroit once Chicago announced Ben Johnson. The 49ers dynasty was over once Broncos hired Mike Shannahan. Your offensive playcaller is essential in this league where ELITE QBs don't exist.
