Here is the problem with all this. Bonds was a multiple time mvp and widely considered the best player in baseball before the home runs. MLB was hurting after the strike and turned a blind eye to sosa, MCguire, and a list far to long to ignore because it brought fans back. A good portion of the league was using and I don't fault Bonds for trying to even the field. Regardless if you use or not the skill level has to be there to begin with

You made a great point, "Bonds was a multiple time mvp and widely considered the best player in baseball before the home runs." He really did himself a disservice. I see Chris Russo is trying to decrease ESPN’s ratings just like he does on MLB Network. These guys like Chris Russo, Greg Amsinger at MLB Network, Harold Reynolds at MLB Network, Dan Plesac at MLB Network, and all the rest can appoint Aaron Judge as the single season homerun king all they want. The fact of the matter is, Barry Bonds is the Major League Baseball single season homerun king. That record is valid, and it still stands!! I wonder if Bonds had broke the record in 1998 would we be having this conversation. Stats and records don't revolve around personal opinions and feelings. If we’re going to abolish records in the steroid era why don’t we do it with pitchers as well so STFU. Barry Bonds is one of the top 3 players to ever play Major League Baseball. Bonds was a 1st ballot Hall of Famer by 1999. He already had 9 years of dominance offensively and defensively. Just check his peak years. From 1990-1999, he had 8 star appearances, 3 MVP awards, should've had 4; who voted for Terry Pendleton in 1991? Smh. 7 silver slugger awards, 5 30/30 seasons, a career 70 WAR, 400 homeruns, 1188 RBis, and 460 stolen bases. Remember, there was a MLB strike in 1994. He could've had way more career stats by 1999 if it wasn't for the strike. He could've retired by the new millennium and got in on the 1st ballot. As far as Roger Maris Jr goes. He needs to go away and never show his face in public again. He doesn't have the luxury to say who's the true homerun king. Dude, you've played ZERO innings in Major League Baseball. Your father's homerun numbers prior to the year he obtained the record were mediocre. So he needs to ask himself how did his father's number inflate that quickly.

peds can increase strength yes, however you still have to dedicate your life to training, diet, and ultimately you have to still make contact with the ball. steriods dont make you smarter or the ability to know what the pitcher is pitching. barry bonds wasnt the only one using, yet hes on top, because steriods only go so far, you have to have the TALENT to go with it.

A lot of Gen Z never saw Barry Bonds in his prime or at all. I live in NJ, so I've gotten to see a lot of Judge, including last night's game, and I did see a lot of Bonds outside of SportsCenter highlights. Bonds was much more respected than Judge, hence all the intentional walks, even as he was entering his 40s. Judge has become a well-rounded hitter, but anyone who throws close to 100 isn't afraid of coming at him. Any pitcher who didn't have a Clemens or Randy Johnson type fastball or a Barry Zito curve was extremely cautious while pitching to Bonds because he didn't even need to make great contact to hit HRs.

@@dankogaming5213 Maybe he does if he wasn`t facing juiced pitches every night right? See this is the issue with that stance. If juiced up pitchers are throwing to juiced up batters, who has the unfair advantage. That`s what "cheating" comes down to. An unfair advantage. This is like someone saying Ronnie Coleman only broke the Olympia record because he was on steroids... Yeah, so were all the guys he was competing against. Also lets be real about PED`s in pro sports. Chemist are usually 5 to 7 years ahead of the testers. WADA released initial guidelines on peptide testing in 2019. They were shocked to find out athletes were using Sarms at Sochi in 2014. They had no way of testing for peptides like MGF. In 2014 both had been around so long, weekend warriors had already been experimenting with S4, MGF, IGF-1 LR3 etc to boost their 24 Hour Fitness PR`s... I`m a Yankee fan, I`m a Judge fan but I`m also a former pro athlete and current CSCS so when I see a 6'7" guy playing a sport at a lean 300 pounds, I`m going to have some questions and doubts.
