We realize most of this is game tape that has already appeared on our channel. However, there has been a ton of demand to see the segment from those in the community who did not have access to ESPN 2. So here it is for all those who are curious about the first Tetris tournament seen on national television!

It's crazy, JD has gotten so much better since then
@forthebirds44 жыл бұрын
I was watching and thinking the same, it's crazy how much more efficient he is along with a lot of other players now

in these 2 years i've seen a lot of "new" players show up with skills equal or even better than what joseph is showing here (which are already astronomical btw). Tetris skill has increased so much since the ctwc became this big event (and it's still growing a lot every year). these young guns are the future of competitive tetris. i love jonas, he's like the sensei that has all the knowledge of tetris but doesn't have the speed of his students. if he's going to win it one more time, it has to be this year. players are just getting too fast and too good
@aradamichaels9274 жыл бұрын
@@rainbowman2505 yeah and not just too fast. ive seen some of them like joseph with high 600k to 700k pre transition on lvl 18 and 'maxing' out at lvl 23 or 24, so the hypertappers don't even have to hypertap. they're also just really good at stacking too at this point.

@@rainbowman2505 Joseph sets a new world record like every week. In the last week he got the first level 35 ever and very nearly missed 1.4 mil. Dude got over 100k points post-kill screen. I think he's going to have a good shot at winning for a long time to come as long as he keeps playing.

Back then, it was an amazing game for Joseph if he maxed out. Now, it's a disappointing game if he doesn't.

Remember when ESPN 2 used to always be called "The Deuce" and had mostly extreme sports and Pro Beach Hockey and World's Strongest Man and such?

5:09 At that time, almost everyone might think joseph will lose to koryan after 120k gap score. But no one knows how good he can play after transition. This match always make me excited to watch even i already knew the result. 👍👍
