Visual “Sign stealing” is not against the rules, nor should it be. It is not cheating. Harbaugh is not saying he wasn’t aware that they were stealing visual signals. Advance scouting is against the rules. That is the crux of the allegations by the NCAA. Harbaugh is saying, and has said all along, that he did not know about advance scouting. The NCAA has found no evidence that he or his staff (besides Stallions) knew about it. It blows my mind that all these ESPN talking heads STILL can’t distinguish between these two not so subtle aspects of this entire fiasco.

Whatever you think about the rules or whether other teams follow it, they were caught breaking those rules and going to great lengths to cover their cheating, and that alone means some kind of punishment should come down. I have no idea why Paul says he can’t say anything bad about him. He basically pulled a Pete Carroll at USC, but in this age it seems the NCAA is unable to punish known cheating, which leads me to question the legitimacy of this sport if major programs can cheat with impunity.
