The real problem is that the team was too good. That core from 08-15/16 was just too good and never left. They had what Liverpool had right now, they best players of their respective positions in the world or 1 team. Now that core is gone (along with that loyalty mentality that came from them being youth products) or older. The team just doesn’t have a sense of urgency.

Vasisht Sir Bobby Robson was fired in ‘97 when the Barça board went behind his back to hire Louis Van Gal in line to replace him. Van Gal was sacked in 2000. Returned in 2002-03 season to be sacked by January. Tata Martino was sacked after a season in charge 2013-14. The only reason why Valverde is still in charge is he keeps on delivering La Liga & Copa del Rey titles. Even though the hardcore fan base hates Valverde tactical style of play. As for the "lack of quality" in this Clasico, important to note that both teams are currently in transition, both teams are still trying to find top gear even this season along with the fact they are both majking major changes to their lineup and everything. People that dont follow closely Barcelona dont knownthat the real problem are the players that wont let managers act as proper mangers. Of course, you can say that Valverde is also at fault for allowing this, but he is earning over 10M euros per season and no one would leave that on the table and quit. Pique, Messi and co. are the ones that de ide so many thing and that is why you wont see Guardiola coming back. That is why Puyol wouldnt accept a role as something similiar to a manager, because he wouldnt be able to work with freedom. Barcelona is heading for another disaster. I didn't hear this level of conversation on the show when just 4 days prior (against Sociedad) Barcelona fell victim to the same non penalty call. Not only did they didn't get a penalty which in itself was bad, but they also conceded one for the exact same offense in the first half. Everyone swept it under the carpet like nothing happened. It's one thing not to get a call, but completely worst when the opposition benefited in the same match from the same call. Talk about that!

That's generally what happens when you take over a club which is already fully formed in terms of personnel and playing style, in an easier league. What Pep did was unprecedented in English football the last two years. Is anything Valverde has done unprecedented in La Liga? (Seriously, Liverpool finished with the 3rd best points tally of all time in England last season. The only two teams better were managed by City. Pep needed one season to get the foundations of his style of football in place, and then produced two seasons that have never been seen before in English football. Last season they got less points than the season before, but in context it was utterly breathtaking given the absurd pressure they were under and the extra trophies they got around them. Also, this Liverpool side are ridiculous - City have slipped up just a couple of times this season, and now Liverpool are out of sight: they are the beast Pep has created.)
