Man City were playing with their first choice full-backs out. Walker returning completely neutralises one of Real Madrid's main threats because he has the speed and power. Cancelo gives Man City even more creativity. I just don't understand how people are acting like Real Madrid are favourites. Man City are not mentality fragile like PSG, stronger than Chelsea in midfield and attack and they go into the second game ahead unlike Chelsea. People acting like Casimiro going to make Real Madrid tight forget he played against Chelsea in the second leg and got run through. I'm sorry the game is over. Man City are in the final because Man City have shown they can create chances at ease against Real Madrid and will almost certainly score at least 1 goal, so that means Real Madrid will have to score at least 3 goals for every Man City goal. Real Madrid have also lost to this Man City team at home before less than 2 seasons ago. If Chelsea can score 4 goals against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu and their attack is weak, I smell a big humiliation by Man City next week. I don't get how people are favouring Real Madrid after watching a game where Man City could have scored 8 goals against them. Man City could do the same in their stadium.

the thing is that you can never write Madrid off...they are that kind of a team. But City had such brilliant chances, especially that one when Mahrez (IDK whY) decided to shoot rather than cross to Foden (3-0 would surely have piled more misery). But at Bernabeu City will play the same, and with Cancelo and/or Walker back (despite Real getting Alaba fitter and Casemiro back) would be much better for the defence and the service for the attackers. And RM aren't unbeatable at S.B. Chelsea, for one, beat them there. So i think the 2nd leg would be a draw allowing City to advance, who really should have had more than 1 goal advantage...but can never write Madrid off whatsoever.

Can someone explain to me a simple question- Why are City attackers (Stwrling, Foden, Mahrez, and Jesus) so wasteful infront of the goal? Their conversion rate is in the teens. Is it psychological, skill level, or just reckless. I can't believe they get paid so much to be the best yet so far from being clinical. Maradona and Pele, even Lineker would be lethal. They don't put out that little extra effort with their bodies to be lethal. When I watch NFL players they put their bodies on the line. The forwards dont.they trip easily, don't dive to make up margins etc. Explain why?

They are all great players, but none of them are finishers, which is why Man City tried to get Kane this season and certain to get Haaland for next season. City despite their lack of clinical finishing really good. Remember that City have no striker and had to improvise by playing a 36/37 yr old Fernandinho as RB against a team like Real Madrid since Walker was still injured. Zinchenko who is a make-shift Left Back had to play because Cancelo was suspended and having no striker yet they still managed to outscore RM. I think that has to be the most underrated aspect of this City side. City could have easily scored at least 6 goals had they been clinical. For a team to play like that offensively without a recognized striker is just insane. However, Pep needs to buy some clinical finishers in the coming transfer window. The amount of easy chances that City waste due to lack of clinical finishers is just painful.

Just coming from a neutral stand point if City approach the game at the Bernabeau under-estimating RM, then they will be surprised. If any of the last CL games have anything to say about how RM won, it's from their opponents underestimating them. City better show up, score and not take any naps, cause a 1-0 score line can turn quick, and when Madrid go ahead on the scoreline, you can bet everything that they will sit with 10 players and defend to the bitter end. That's something City are 'too good' to do, they paid the price at home last game. They should've easily won 4-0 that game, but they kept slipping up.

Ali has always been pro-Spanish teams, but saying Real Madrid are favourites because exposed the weakness in Man City defence and they will remember that. Did he not see the game where Man City could have scored 8 goals in the game dominated the midfield, maybe they will remember that. Or they will remember the ease that Chelsea, a team weak in attack scored 4 goals against them at home or remember the fact Man City under Guardiola have beaten Real Madrid every game they have played. It is over. Real played badly against PSG, Chelsea so that is a sign that is their level of defence.

Not sure why everybody is saying it was a great game. RM didn't go punch to punch with City. All of RM's goals were to cut down a two deficit goal. It wasn't even a box to box match. As in previous two rounds RM class showed only after their opposition kept missing. Yes, the score line suggest a great match but it wasn't a classic like everybody keeps saying. I am bewildered.

Toni Kroos can not cover the ground and should be left on the bench for the return leg. Except for a Handball I don't see any mistake by City defensively. Fernandinho was done by great skill, Laporte had Benzema on his back and any CB in the world would've made same choice to not leave Benzema 1 on 1, I'd rather take chance with Vini missing a clear cut opportunity than take a chance of giving Benzema even an inch. The first goal from Benz was absolutely criminal. That wasn't even a chance for my liking, cross was also poor from Mendy. So City can be happy that they didn't make much of mistakes it was just quality of individual. Now Real can surely do them with just Benzema and Vini combination but City are a better team and actually Real's defence has been in shambles tbh.

I have just watched a City fan video about the IFAB rules. If a ball is played by a player within the rules, i.e foot/head/part of the body other than arms, and the ball then hits another part of that players body, it is not a penalty. Laporte's header was not a penalty. There are also IFAB videos to prove this. The throw- in leading to Vinicius Jr. goal should have gone to City. That was obvious and that's why Guardiola was carded. Madrid only scored one legitimate goal and that was Benzema's first. So, by the rules, the score was 4-1 and not 4-3.

I dont think they practice how to be good defenders like how they are drilled how to control and pass the ball. They need a defensive coordinator like the NFL. They tackle too late and back off to far. They don't swarm the attacker but rather mark zone. Liverpool defenders tackle closer and harder. Why don't PEP change how they defend?

City didn't have both of their starting fullbacks and two of real Madrid's goals came as a result of that. Zinchenko being out of position and , Fernandinho being beaten by vinicius. Also as amazing as Benzema first strike was - I'll give him his due do to quality - it was also incredibly lucky when you consider it megs a player and hits the post and bounces off the ground. But he didn't really do anything else. It wasn't even quality from Madrid that brought about the corner; Laporte defended well and hesded it but it unfortunately rebounds unto his arm, which then gives Benzema a chance to score. I understand people will see these CL games from Madrid and claim that they prove their quality (and to a large degree it does), we need to also acknowledge that City are definitely a better team than PSG and Chelsea, both teams City have played out of the park this season alone, and they will probably have a better game in Madrid, where they did win only a couple years ago

It was an entertaining game for the fans regarding the scoreline of 4-3 in City's favour but I thought it was a complete letdown by City in terms of defence nd not finishing the great chances man!😯😮😱🤯😩 The scoreline might have been 7 or 8-3 if Mahrez, Foden nd Laporte have buried their goal scoring chances nd I'm not including those chances of Dias from the 2 crosses in the end!😬😵😩 City were completely dominating the game but without no build up that Mendy cross to Karim the Dream he scored the goal with an awesome touch otherwise other 2 goals scored by Real were pure defensive errors of players from City's end! It was like City was getting ahead of them but wanted Madrid to get back in the game somehow nd let the excitement up for the second league!🙂😝😋🤭💯 It's just similar to Chelsea's game in Quarter finals Madrid capitalised on the mistakes done by the defence nd got those goals which killed the tie almost in first league nd now almost similar happened in this Semi final game too but the only difference is that City scored 4 with their finishing nd Chelsea scored only 1 in the first league!!😋🤭👍💯🙏

You don't know that for sure buddy. This is football. City entered the tie favorites, they remain favorites, but people now realize that Madrid fight back. Next game will be at the Bernabeau. Next game will be at the Bernabeau. If the City fans don't show up, Madrid fans will create an environment so difficult to play through. Madrid treat this as a game against ex-Barca coach. This will be an environment on similar chaos as an el clasico. The fans can play a huge role, if City slips Madrid will capitalize. It's just a matter of how much class and composure City has to control the game.

It seems none of the hosts on ESPN FC know the IFAB rules for handball...Which is flabbergasting. The penalty given to Real Madrid against Man City was wrong. And the rules clearly show in video examples what are not scenarios of hand ball. "If you deliberately play the ball with another part of your body and it hits your hand it is not a penalty" word for word. There is a video example of Marcos Rojo doing the exact same thing as Laporte.
