trent is best suited as wingback in the 352 formation or formation that liverpool uses. He is decent midfielder i wouldnt field him there but instead wharton as he is the anchor that england needs in the midfielder to allow other midfielders and players to play freely.

You play a 3-2-2-3 to accommodate those players. A box of 4 in midfield with 3 at the rear, and 3 ahead. It's the perfect balance of 5x5. This would allow Bellingham and Foden to play behind Saka, Kane and Palmer. You can then have two CDMs behind Bellingham and Foden protecting a back three. Man City won a treble using this system. It's a variation on the Hungary tactics of the 1950s.

Jude, Foden, Harry & Saka have been banging Gareths door as they need Trents (Pirlo/Hoddle like) brave passes to unlock the best defences. The same thing stones does at city. Are you gonna also pretend John stones never plays in midfield? I think Trent is a much better right back than a midfielder. I too would play him in his natural position. But I don't have a problem him playing in midfield next to a CDM, he can do that pretty well. What I wouldn't do is play him the way Gareth is playing him and kane and foden and Bellingham and everyone else. It's silly to point fingers at individual players when you can see the entire tactical system is a mess and the manager has given them bad instructions.

If England play either of Gallagher or TAA then they are asking for trouble. To be honest they lack an established player maker. Only 2 potential playmakers are mainoo and Wharton who are young but are in the squad. I'd personally play mainoo, for entertainment purposes, but Wharton I Believe can play that role, even though he doesn't for his club. Just that these overrated established English player are jealous of the youngsters and won't trust them. They give the youngsters the same treatment they receive at club level because they are overrated. So mainoo and Wharton will probably have a hard time asserting themselves in this team this tournament unless they do the unexpected and grab the game by the scruff of the neck and demand leadership. These skillfull and technical need to be protected and driven to express themselves to the benefit of the team. Trust them and play them together with Bellingham with eze wide left and foden wide right. Mainoo and Wharton look up to Bellingham, he would inspire them. Eze and Wharton would compose each other. England would have a better chance of performing well and in convincing way than playing with the current 11 which cannot be trusted. Bring masn greenwood back. And because they're defensively sound, Bellingham, Saka and Foden would be free to play around Kane; the most complete CF in the world ... Oh and TAA is the most creative RB in the world. Disagree with my lineup by all means, but it isn't negative. And I do agree to a certain extent, Rice might be able to hold the midfield on his own, but Bellingham and Foden would have to run themselves ragged trying to keep up the press

Stones (last season) consistently made passes that allowed the dynamic players to flourish in a team that won the CL. And I do like what you're saying but in the end I think it's wishful thinking - it'd require Jude to be more disciplined than is really in his nature and Foden would have to be outstanding in every game . I actually like the team he's playing, I'd like to see him give it another chance
