If he gestured forward with two hands, that would indicate play advantage. As I have said elsewhere, if Coote confesses to an error in signaling, and he intended to wave play advantage but got his hands wrong, that would be a noteworthy error in terms of his officiating skills, but easily forgivable as a fan. But that is conjecture. What the plain facts in front of us say is Coote made one of the worst calls we have seen in years, only it did not turn out to be important to the result because Nunez scored.

2 sackable offences here: 1) Gross misconduct by bringing the organisation (PGMOL) into disrepute and 2) Suspected misuse of substances (drugs). On top of sacking him, PGMOL needs to undertake a review of all matches he has officiated in (including VAR) to determine whether bias or substance abuse have impacted on his ability to make competent and fair decisions.

What's clear is that no matter what, he can never referee a Liverpool game or any game directly affecting Liverpool again, which takes him out of the Prem and Europe. Furthermore, people are not placing enough emphasis on the fact that he called him a German c*nt. Whatever about your opinion regarding an individual, there is absolutely no cause to ever bring their nationality into your appraisal of their character. I can envision other German players and managers in the league having similar issue to Liverpool and saying he shouldn't be refereeing them if he has an obvious bias against their nationality. Well they seem to be able to manage it in other leagues across Europe! The PGMOL needs oversight and transparency as they currently audit themselves, never a good situation. Refs need to be fully retrained and the VAR tech used in European leagues, such as semi automated off sides, needs to be brought in asap. Only then will we have a decent chance at competent refereeing ( oh yeah, and get rid of the back handers for refereeing in the Saudi League)

If this video is genuine then he cannot be allowed to ref another EPL game at the very least and a personal apology to Klopp, Scousers, Germans and LFC. You're right everyone is entitled to an opinion but if those opinions do or are even perceived to influence you in your job where you ABSOLUTELY have to be unbiased then you cannot do that job. I'm a Liverpool fan and what he did was human. Everyone has opinions but I do believe he deserves to get fired. But the main problem is the whole system. Referees need to share their allegiances with more transparency. They can't claim their referees are fans of non-league clubs or so on. The system needs sweeping reforms. For something like VAR, the PGMOL should have 3 referees independently looking at the incidents and putting their decision to a vote. It'll reduce the fuckery of Odegaard playing basketball in the penalty area and getting away with it. David Coote was the VAR for that mind you. He also forgot that you can give a red card to a player for a foul even after the offside flag has gone - Pickford Van Dijk incident (shows incompetence)

Coote was responsible for not sending off Pickford after he clattered VVD. Coote was responsible for not giving Everton a penalty against Man City when Rodri clearly handled the ball.
