Stipe hardly ever uses kicks in his fights he’s always been a puncher. Against Jones walking him down would make even less sense for him to kick. Heavyweights are too simple for Jones. Aspinall will have no answer to the amount of weapons Jones has in his arsenal.

**Common statements made by Jon fans and simple solutions** Statement 1: "Jon is much better than Tom." Solution: Jon should fight Tom to prove it. Statement 2: "Tom doesn't deserve to fight Tom." Solution: Incorrect. Tom is the interim champion. Interim champions and official champions must and always have had unification bouts. Statement 3: "Fighting Tom would contribute nothing to Jon's legacy." Solution: Incorrect. Beating a new-generation, lightning-fast, young HW with a 100% finish rate is much more impressive than fighting a 42-year-old whose last fight was a KO loss three years ago. Edit: Stipe was 42 (not 41) at this point in time.

Stipe couldn't have been further away from being a legacy fight. If anything, majority of the fans watching thought it should've never been scheduled and was boring. The only 2 fights that could actually expand his legacy are Poatan at LHW and Tom for the unification. So by the rules he either vacates his title at HW and puts dirt on his legacy to chase a super fight with alex which will be over within 2 minutes after jon took him down or he does whats right and DEFENDS his belt against the scariest and best fighter in the HW division which is Aspinall.
@YasamK.
@YasamK. 32 минут бұрын
No the UFC should strip his belt. A champ that’s declining to fight the next best contender doesn’t deserve the belt and shouldn’t be able to vacate. He had that option before the Stipe fight but that’s just my humble opinion. I agree on the rest you said.
@MJ-gg1ef
@MJ-gg1ef 30 минут бұрын
It should have happened the moment he injured his shoulder. UFC should have told him either you keep the belt and fight the number one contender when you are able to fight or you can have your legacy fight with Stipe after you healed up but then you have to vacate your belt now. Because we can't hold up the HW division for such a long time and we know you don't have the grace to relinquish the title on your own.

Am I the only one who realizes how overrated this guy is? This dude has been in the UFC for 4 years with 9 fights. He's arguably fought like 2 maybe 3 actually reputable, good fighters and we're somehow going through the same spiel of "This is the guy who will do it." not realizing we've been saying this about Jons opponents for almost a decade now...Think about that. For 9/10 years we've been saying "This is the guy who will finally beat him." Can we give it a rest and come to terms that whether you like him or not, he's the goat.

Jon struggled massively against Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes when he was 32-33, Tom is twice the fighter that either of them were and would be facing a 37-38 year old Jones. And on Tom not having great wins, what better wins is it possible for him to have gotten? Stipe wouldn't fight him, Jones wouldn't fight him, and Gane was acting instead of fighting, there's no other heavyweights who would improve his resume left

I hate to say it this guys resume is fairly one dimensional. I’ve been watching Jon beat “ great white hopes” for 17 years. Jon is NOT a one dimensional fighter. His base is wrestling JUCO wrestling champ. Black belt JuJitsu. His stand up is the Art-of-Eight-Hands. The man has mastered 2-3 disciplines and has never lost a fight. Mr. Aspinal you’re sowing the wind and you’ll reap the whirlwind…your fans are serving you on a platter…

Aspinall maybe younger...bigger...stronger and does have the speed and power over Jones.....BUT.......Jones' ring-generalship and Fight IQ are light years ahead of Aspinall's and that what will win him the fight when he and Aspinall are to fight. Jones just has too many tools. As u rightly said....Jones is a multi-dimensional fighter who's light years above anyone Aspinall has faced/beaten. He isn't one-dimensional like Tybura...Volkov..Blaydes...Pavlovich......fighters who Aspinall has demolished.
