So when the steelers win it's because of Tomlin and when they lose it's the player? This people don't actually watch the games. The coaching isn't so to par. The game planes have been terrible. Their game plan against the Bengals was run, run, run and Russell Wilson only had like 7 pass in the first. And that's after the first time they played the Bengals they let Russ throw and he went for 400±. Way more times than not they go way to conservative and as a result get off to slow starts and fall behind and that doesn't work against good teams. Their game plans are way to predictable so by this time of year it's easy for high level coaches to scheme against the steelers. They need to take more risk and be more aggressive and creative in their game plans. That's why this 4 game losing Streak has been so bad

The annoying thing about sports media is you can tell who didn’t play and who did. If you’ve been on a team you can be coached well and still not perform. The humans on the field matter much more than the human on the sideline.

@555calex
@555calex 3 сағат бұрын
No. The real issue was the GM drop-off in supporting the team via the draft. I noticed this once Rohlisberger left and wouldn't even start looking for successor until he actually left. It's the GM that should be in the discussion of leaving instead of the HC. If they change their mindset and support the QBs they now have like they use to do the Steelers could easily stop their decline...

It wasn’t a matter of not knowing what we had in Andy Reed in Philly. It just got to a point where a fresh start was best for him and his family and the Eagles. People forget that Andy was dealing with a lot of stuff in his personal life during the end of his 10 year in Philly and going to Kansas City and kind of getting a fresh start was good for him. Andy is still beloved in Philadelphia by a huge percentage of fans because he had consistent success even if we ultimately didn’t win a Super Bowl with him. Sometimes it just gets to a point where the best thing for both parties in a relationship is to go their separate ways not because either one is terrible, but simply because a fresh start is needed

@@kevinw7469 Oh my bad, I didn't realize that Tomlin was both the HFC and the GM. SMH. Tomlin was loyal to Big Ben bc he won a SB. If he's not the GM, you cannot put Pickett on him. Russ was a Great QB in his prime. He is still a good QB, but not enough to make up for the Steelers OL and inconsistent play from Pickens and Harris this season. The Steelers lost their last four games because they faced teams with significantly better rosters (Ravens and Eagles) or super Elite QBs (Mahomes and Burrow). You can't have a slightly above avg roster and No Elite QB and expect to win anything of note in this Era.

@@ehansbrough593 no team should ever get picked off 12 times by the Jags. Period. He does not adjust or account for mistakes. Whenever Ben called the plays the team played better...problem is, Tomlin has to be right. If you can't see his arrogance then you don't watch football enough.

Why are we in a 4 game losing streak? Because Russell Wilson fumbled on the 2 yard line then threw a pick 6 later that game... 21 point swing in a game we should've won. That has nothing to do with Tomlin & everything to do with the QB. IMO they need to give Fields another chance once he's healed up & go from there, let Wilson go to free agency, because he's only got 2 plays, moon ball & short pass, and that does not work against top teams.

BUT, until we get a elite QB we aren't winning anything. We don't draft high enough to pick the cream of the crop, so asking this team to tank for that QB we so desperately need is not going to happen because we will stay around the 9-8 or 10-7 range, which will likely put us in the low teens and early 20's. We could trade up but the price of that would be significant due to the demand of said team we are trying to trade up with.

1. Everyone thinks Tomlin was this big something when he was hired. He was not, he was a DB coach with no track record. Anyone can become “great” if given an all time defense. 2. “They haven’t given him a QB.” He had Ben, AB & Bell for 4/8 of the highest scoring offenses in Steelers history & went to 1 afc champ game. 3. He is one of the worst in game managers/decision makers in the league. Doesn’t understand clock management & timeout/challenge usage. Dan is wrong.

Tomlin, with his level of influence, is a part of not having a QB and not having a quality line (which also reflects on his line coach). Part of the QB situation is a Tomlin influence on wanting a vanilla, low risk, offense and trying to win with the D.

I’m a quote her…. “John Gruden has a lot to thank him for that” Tony leaves Bucs, Gruden gets hired and wins a SB immediately. What does that sound like? Cowher leaves Steelers, Tomlin gets hired and wins a SB immediately. ITS THE SAME EXACT SCENARIO! Tomlin is no different than Gruden as a HC. Tony goes to the Colts and wins the SB.
@cwilson32123
@cwilson32123 2 сағат бұрын
I see your point but it’s not the exact same thing. Gruden won the SB and did pretty much nothing after. He had an 11 win season in 05 a couple 9 win seasons, way more losing seasons, and he never won another playoff game. Tomlin at least made a 2nd SB, had streaks of double digit win seasons, and while it’s been 8 years since he last won a playoff game he’s at least won 5 playoff games since winning the SB.

I could understand this if the Steelers were not making the playoffs at all, but we're talking about a team that consistently makes it to the playoffs with a lack of talent. Based on their roster they shouldn't even be in playoff contention most years. Good luck finding another coach able to do what Tomlin has done without having a quarterback.

If memory serves me...the 2014-2020(ish) years for the Steelers were tough because they had an offensive identity crisis with an aging/ailing/underperforming defense, which they were known for. The post Polamalu/Harrison years were rough on them. They went from run heavy to pass heavy (anyone remember the Todd Haley drama?????)
