Great review! Thanks. I just bought the same Seicane unit (android 8.1, 2G/32G) for my 2013 Golf Sportwagen. I've had similar android units in my past 4 cars. I've had only one failure - a touch screen.

Great review, I'm about to put one of these in my Eos. Do you lose any functionality in the driver info center? Such as being able to initiate a call using the steering wheel buttons and the DIC. Also do you lose the media display in the DIC...the radio and media info that pops up with the factory unit?

Well with this unit you can still view/access some of the info in the DIC. For example when using the radio tuner it will show the station you're currently on. If you are using the music (stock) app then it will show the track nunber but not any other info. Keep in mind that my GTI did not display much info from the stock radio so that may be why. You can also access the bluethooh app via steering wheel. Again depending on what buttons you have on your steering wheel.

This unit will show the A/C, climate controls as well as when you open your doors, outside temp etc. Just like the oem radio. As for the temperature it doesn't show on the screen unless you to into the "vehicle" app and it will display along with your current miles/kms, fuel, temp etc. See video at 4:23 Everything else will work as the oem does as I mentioned I just did not include it in the video.

Sorry for the late reply, mine does not have parking sensors but they should because the CAN-bus should integrate them into the radio. Having said that, I would contact them to make sure.

I have no steering controls on my my MK5 Golf 2008. How does one control volume function.

this units have steering wheel buttons (capacitive touch) simply by pressing on the touch button located at the bottom of the unit. I have an android radio in my Chevrolet Traverse and there are a couple issue with it that drive me nuts curious if this has similar issues. First issue is the screen brightness, in direct sunlight the screen on my eonon head unit is barely visible. I am hoping this does not have the issue as it is in a convertible and could be exposed to considerably more sunlight. The next issue is with tethering, on my unit when I try to tether to my iPhone it can take a good 10 minutes before it finally connects. It would be nice if I wanted to tether and it would just connect. The last issue I have is with CarPlay on my unit. I have an external dongle and it can be a bit finicky curious as to how good it is on this unit. Probably the biggest CarPlay issue is the lack of charging when it goes into CarPlay

The screen brightness on these units is not bad, having said that yes the glare from direct sunlight makes it harder to see whats displaying on the screen so I just turn up the brightness and its visible enough. Also I dont have a convertible so having so much light will probably affect the view on most units. For tethering, are you refering to connecting your phone to bluetooth and/or using you phone to thether wifi to the unit? I have 3 units from Seicane and they all automatically connect to bluetooth as soon as the unit powers on (about 30 sec for it to fully connect) even in a middle of a phone call. As for carplay, I don't have an iphone to test it with. However when I have used android auto I cannot recall of it charges the phone so I will double check that. Keep in mind that the dongle you are using may only be wired for connection but not charging. May also be a carplay/apple thing. I've had it for about a year now and so far it's been great, only complaint so far would be that the screen is starting to show some "scratches" from when I swipe. You can't see them when in use but can be visible when off. Other than that it's all been good so far. I have 3 units from them and all good to this point.

Perfect could I install this into my 2005 chevy equinox? You said this is a 9 inch and I believe my Suv has a 7 inch stock radio.

No you cannot control the heater or AC with this unit. It does however display that info when in use.

The first time it boots up it takes about 25 seconds, after that its boots up instantly. It also plays/opens the source you had when you shut the car off, just like a normal radio.

Once paired, hit the icon with the two arrows (below the hang up icon) to transfer your contacts. Remember to allow the unit by permitting it once you get a prompt from your phone. Watch at 12:05

My GTI did not come with a rear view camera. I will be installing an aftermarket. To connect the factory camera to this android unit you will need some adapter harnesses or modules. I have never done one.

Hello I've more or less the same radio mine is a PANLELO 8 my micro work but not very well....I see that i've a 4 pin cable but I dont know how to plug a micro as all micros ends in a Jack 3.5 cable.....HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!
