The Dalai Lama said here that Buddhism does not talk about relying on a creator God, but instead on the law of causality ['cause and effect', or karma]. To overcome suffering, you must know what the causes of suffering are. These causes are called 'The Origin Of Suffering'. The extinction of karma and delusion brings liberation [from suffering]. The root of all mental afflictions is ignorance. Ignorance here means clinging to 'independent existence' [belief that everything is separate and not connected]. Ignorance can be overcome by understanding of 'Dependent Origination' [belief that nothing exists on its own , but always has come from earlier circumstances].

Yes! I first read about emptiness years ago, and even though I didn't understand it, it has always made me happy...now His Holiness is helping me to understand it, and although habitual thought is a real challenge, having the right thoughts to insert whenever I remember is truly helping to make life easier...to understand, at least! I finally get how compassion is truly the wish fulfilling gem, and my karma is getting so instant I try harder to not let it out of my mind...not easy while struggling to survive, but when I remember, the struggle can feel like a dance sometimes...and I remember all the monks who were and are in prison, and my struggle feels like an easy ride...mind magic! 💖

@@bjustb2404 That is beautiful. I have only watched the part of the video so far. Is there a term for those 'right thoughts to insert'? When you said ''compassion is a wish fulfilling gem'', it sounds very beautiful. I have been feeling it too occasionally, and it feels very enriching. It is like a very profound understanding and caring, which suddenly turns up, but in a sort of detached way. Occasionally, instant karma happens to me too. It is just SO weird. The middle way surely makes the struggle of life easier. Belief in karma must make the hardships of a lot easier. Do you think people who can deal with suffering really well get tougher situations dealt to them by life when they are due to experience karma's suffering?
@bjustb2404
@bjustb2404 3 жыл бұрын
@@WeAreAllOneNature Thank you and no, I don't think dealing with suffering brings on more, but feeling sorry for yourself sure does! I think my current struggle is something I created by past karma as well as my lifelong rejection of materialistic living...I seriously believed we'd have a better system by the time I got this old, LOL! But honestly, my "enemies" have truly been great teachers, sending me running to Buddha full speed and showing me how fortunate I am and things about the world I never knew and am so much better off knowing... it's endlessly convoluted, like Dolores Canon said 🐱✨🕉️ My instant karma is about how whenever I have unkind thoughts, I bump into a tree anymore... seriously...I think it's a good thing 🌼
@WeAreAllOneNature
@WeAreAllOneNature 3 жыл бұрын
@@bjustb2404 Interesting. Do you think the past karma, which is causing your current struggle, is mainly from this life, or a previous one? Also, do you feel comfortable saying how old you were when you started rejecting materialistic living, and why this may have contributed to your current struggle? If aliens were to visit us, I bet they would be amazed that even though we have advanced technologically, we still have wars, poverty, pollution etc.

@@WeAreAllOneNature I think it's past lives, but considering the effects on my mind, I can't tell if it's bad karma or good! We all suffer here...I think I must have been about 10 years old, when I realized the superficial nature of my culture...I was also lucky to have an atheist dad who was the most fair and altruistic person I knew - he said we should do right just because it's right ..he also said he just couldn't believe in God, but hoped I could... which gave me choices growing up Catholic in Salt Lake City, the Mormon Rome, they all worshipped Jesus' finger instead of looking where he pointed! I think Jesus was a Buddhist before Rome got a hold of his story and added things ...

They don't teach enough in life. To few left old friend. Omnipotent and or mind's eye to within/without is based on an existing handle of emotional value. Clarity of mind, motion and feeling one can start to see their time naturally as it flows. What afflicts their heart, mind, and eventually after achieving true depth what afflicts existence itself in natural time. When all is clear and as is is truly understood 💕😌 omnipotent sight truly becomes clear. This opens the door for higher consciousness which reveals the problems revealing your value in it all as well as your limits. Beyonder consciousness reveals your spiritual values. Sadists misuse this conciousness depth to an ignorant end. My time is changing again hopefully for the better this time. Performed a new emotional evolution it seems in my acid bds Nirvana no body handle.
