How this incarnation of The Dalai Lama was found after his previous death is so magical. He is obviously not just some nobody picked at random. This beautiful 86 year old marvel, who can speak so well and profoundly for hours at a time, is clearly the one and only ...

His Holiness is so correct in his instruction to critically study these treatises as opposed to simply reciting them in a form of ritual practice. This is a common problem with much religious practice, especially where culturally based. It is clear that there should be no conflict between the scientific and metaphysical at this point in human history. Now to bring « Religious « thinking both east and west to common ground. At some point there may be no need for religious practice and tribalism, simply understanding and awareness.

When the great Dalai Lama speaks in English, I understand him so well. But through a translator, I struggle to understand. I may try to watch this later? I wish the Dalai Lama would make some non-live/edited, English, shorter lectures explaining the basic principles, specifically for people who are new to Buddhism. The global impact of that could be massive. Much love and respect.

@@dmhartigan ?? The Dalai Lama recently did great talks on 'Compassion - The Answer For Today's Troubled World' and 'The Need For Secular Ethics In The Modern Education System'. Both were in English.

Dalai Lama's English is really good, but sometimes he struggles to express himself in English precisely. This translator cooperates with HH Dalai Lama for long time, he knows English very well and he is able to express HH's words as much exactly as it is possible. Tibetan has more words for understanding Buddhism than are in English, some words even don't exist in English and the translator has to find a way how express HH Dalai Lama's words the most exactly.

I felt the first question here is not dealt with correctly. To imagine that one has a 'higher' position as a human than say an insect is a misunderstanding of dhamma. There is no higher or lower, these are unhelpful ways of imagining existence. The question is founded in fear of being low/lower and of feeling superior to insects, animals etc, that we are getting somewhere away from these 'problems'. There is a saying prevalent in many religions of the East, 'you will become what you despise' So the action of looking down on other creatures brings about a retro grade movement in your Karmic journy, you are being eaten by a snake in a giant game of snakes and ladders when you act so. Part of the correct response is to find ways to broaden your out look on things that you imagine to be lower. In the great journey(s) we are all taking part in we will all have been insects at sometime and it will improve the lot of all creatures when those who imagine themselves higher or better than others cease to do so. All creatures thrown up by Nature/Existence are here/there for a reason.

If I may offer some advice from personal experience... accept it first, accept the negative emotions, feel the sensations completely then see where it flows. See where it originates from and then take it from there. The negative is also part of you ( of each us ). Hope you can use this.
