Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Draper... honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the forward 50 and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth hair, and that gorgeous aerial mark. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire. You had a rough childhood playing soccer, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the field, you're a ripper bloke and an even better adelaide bogan, sometimes I even call you dad. I forever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life if it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you had to get surgery and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win goal of the year in marvel, because deep down, my glorious king deserved it. I never wanted you to return home. I want you to stay at Essendon forever. 2020 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2022 you made history happen. You took that ball out of the ruck and scored goal of the year, and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "ESSENDON, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of footy and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I'd say the club will take a step backwards next then hopefully move forward rapidly after that with some new personnel. Frustrating for Bomber fans yet again! 😞

Step backwards 😂😂 this club is a joke there is no way forward because we hold onto guys like parish, redman stringer Shiel keep them until there’s absolutely no trade value in them then let them go for nothing, we’re too good to get into the top end talent pool of the draft we got lucky with caddy but had to give a second rd pick for him too. We’re stuck with McKay, parish, redman and Wright eating up 3mil in salary a season almost 20% from just them players, even draper is a restricted free agent which means his on big $$. We’re ran so poorly 😢 I’m envious of Geelong, also butters recently purchased property 25mins outside of Geelong watch the cats get him in the near future mark my words it’s already in talks you heard it here first.

Okay, hear me out. Try and get a deal done for Draper this year and turn that into De Koning. I would much rather a backman who’s played in Geelong’s set up coming into the club than keeping Draper - ruckman who win their own ball and get lots of clearances always LOOKS impressive but very rarely is a ‘big name’ ruckman in a winning set up. Max Gawn is the one exception of course, but you want a ruck who gives the ball to the users, not one who wins his own. Grundy on grand final day for example, he topped Sydney’s clearances but only because his tap work wasn’t good enough to get the ball to Chad and Isaac… Bryan can ruck, and Wright is good for more than a chop out with some pre-season with Goldie in the wings when needed. And we need a genuine full back option to pair with McKay long term and Reid ‘s body can’t be trusted. I think to Melbourne bringing in May and Lever in consecutive years. The top teams have proper full backs - Andrews, Taylor, McCartin, Allir etc. and De Koning is twice as promising early in his career… whereas teams win premierships with reject ruckman like Fort, Cameron, Stanley, Grigg, Lycett, Vardy etc. but we could seriously get enough capital to turn Draper into De Koning (or even send him straight to the cats!)

I wouldn't be unhappy to see Draper go. He's not a great ruckman and gets injured a lot.

Draper for me is a mixed bag, sometimes he plays like a squid, then other times he can play generally well, to me he's a high risk high reward player

Draper is so popular and awesome, but he plays like a tool with audacious decisions making sometimes. 😂

EFC need to be ruthless with our list. For too long, we've held onto players that are very average. 1) Offer little consistency. 2) Little to no mungrel. And 3) Poor skills under pressure. Yes that means Draper - 2 out of 3. It also means Laverde, Shiel, Weideman, Gresham, Setterfield, Cox, Wright, Stringer, Menzie. We're not going to consistently challenge good sides with these players. The club needs to be honest with itself and it's supporters.

Seriously - it is beyond time the coterie groups who hold enormous power and others at Board level extract their collective digit. EFC for too long - 20 years have been 'dancing to player demands'. The truly insidious rent seeking 0 grass roots experience Dodoro owns most of this - if a player wants to go then let him. It is infuriating the culture post Sheedy has rotted away the social fabric of this massive club. The club is bigger than ANY player. And on Peter Wright, locked away on an absurd yearly salary which has seen him buy a multi million dollar house has one more year and if he fails get rid of him. Wright 'can' play when he wants to - but he is far too unreliable - time to get ruthless EFC or finish bottom 4 every year while memberships plummet.

I’d be ok with Drapes going if he really wants to get back to Adelaide, and you know idiot Crows would offer him stupid money. But he’d be a restricted FA yeah? So it wont be as simple as all that. Ruckmen, unless they are Madden, Cox or Gawn, are highly overrated and not worth the mega coin getting around.
