Im going out on Tuesday to do some woodland and hopefully mushroom photography. I'll be packing my polariser filter. 😊

Fantastic! I hope you have a great photography day! There's some great mushrooms out at the moment - we've had a lot of rain here in North Wales the last couple of days so that will have probably damaged the mushrooms in my local woodland - need a good dry spell and hopefully some more will spring up!

Good advice!And pProbably the most important tip in this is to find the 'right' woodland.
@chrisharveyphotographyАй бұрын
Thanks for watching and thanks for leaving a comment! I think that tip is so important and definitely increased my success of finding characterful photography subjects! Woodland photography is hard so it's all about giving ourselves the best possible chance of success!

One of the best things I did was use a CPL for autumn leaves. It removes all the wet shine and makes golden leaves absolutely pop

Absolutely mate! It was a game changer for me too! Really helps bring those scenes to life! Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment, really appreciate the support!

Change happening quite quickly in South Wales. Happy with several images already, and like you waterproofs proving important!

It’s great to hear you’re making the most of it! Getting a head start on the season is so important! As are the waterproofs 😂. A microfibre towel for the camera is always a good shout too, or a shower cap 👍🏻😃. A piece of photography equipment people rarely consider! Thanks for watching!

Quality video, spot-on music, practical tips, Chris. Preview w/smartphone is super helpful (location info a bonus when re-visiting). Expecting to duplicate/approximate lighting conditions in the preview can be a challenge, IMO. Keep expectations modest. One tool for getting “peak” color conditions is use of app for that purpose, perhaps tied to local weather service, with helpful color keyed maps (pre/past color peak, et al). Lots of fall image compositions - from vistas to leaf macros - fallen leaf on asphalt after rain. Creative “falling leaf” tip: attach leaf to thin support (e.g., wire or twig) affixed to camera top. Leaf in focus in front of lens about 1 foot. Slow shutter speed; move camera downward during exposure; woodland/neutral background. Edit out wire support in post, as needed. Final effect is capture of in-focus falling leaf against slightly blurred background. Cheating or creating - your call.😊 Is your new Lumix weather-sealed? BTW, suggest larger font for text. Cheers!

Thanks so much Paul! That really means a lot, I appreciate the kind words! 🙏🏻 there are some great free apps that I use for weather, mainly ‘ClearOutside’ for predicting mist and fog and ‘Windy’ which has great data for things like dew point and humidity which are important indicators for mist and fog as you may know! I’ll leave links in the description to some resources 👍🏻. Thinking creatively like that is a great approach for autumn! Just pre-visualising the photos you’d like to capture can really help! Some great ideas there! 👌🏻 Lumix seems to be holding up fine! 👍🏻😊 it took a beating but I always carry a towel and always keep the camera covered whilst not in use which helps!

It’s absolutely mad how the last few years ‘autumn’ has been right at the end of October and this year it feels like it will be next week 😳 great tips in the one bud, no idea what I’ll do for autumn this year but will implement these for sure!
@chrisharveyphotographyАй бұрын
Tell me about it mate! I remember a couple of years ago I was still photographing autumn foliage at the end of November! 😅 I guess we have the awful summer to thank for an earlier autumn this year! I’m not mad about it though, it can’t come fast enough for me - I just get so excited about photography at this time of year 👌🏻. Thanks for checking out the video mate, I’m glad it was a helpful one! I’m really looking forward to seeing your autumn photos this year man! 📸 I’m sure you’ll get some belters!

@@chrisharveyphotography very true mate yeah summer was diabolical 😂😂 my main issue this year is wanting to do something different as I’ve circulated the same autumn spots for a few years now, need to sit down and do some research! 🫡

Hmmmmm……. Processing images in a room that is lit with a warm orange hue. Makes calibrating an editing monitor a bit pointless really.

I don't edit with that light on, it's just for video 👍🏻
