Im a taxi driver here in the Netherlands, and i recently got the same van you drive. In the beginning i had a lot of trouble with braking and accelerating smoothly due to the turbo on the engine. Im also getting better at defensive driving and keeping more distance between me and other road users. I will be taking chauffeur lessons in febr. 2024 to further my skillset.

Get a comercial gps its good to have as a tool get a cd case cut the sleeves out to store it also if your driving a bus have google maps and the gps on at the same time have the volume down on both

you don’t have to drive anything top of the range,especially if you’re just starting out. Just make sure you’re on time ,you look/sound professional and you vehicle is 100% clean. @@elkana01 As another chauffeur, I'd suggest considering where your desired clients are hanging out and going from there, many of us promote on LinkedIn, due to the professional aspect. Also, for the vehicle, as Ray said it's not anywhere near as important as the professional service and amenities you provide. I acquired 32 stable private clients while working for Lyft and Empower (Lyft alternative in the US) over just under 2 years, while driving a 2017 Ford Fusion/2021 Toyota Camry (non hybrid). Provide the service that folks seek out and they will help you get going. And as a last point, wherever you promote yourself make sure its all on-brand and that includes whenever you are just out and about, as you never know where or whom you will get as a prospect or lose due to having a horrid brand image.

Very much like Washington DC, you have to learn to truly drive defensively in a proactive manner not just jumping out. But this also goes to pre-planning preffered and alternate routes especially for late clients, traffic, events, etc.

Good question.I always pre-plan every single trip.The short answer is that I never use the GPS.

When you jump into the chauffeur realm, you should always pre-plan not just your routes but alternatives and learn to know your service areas, be that eateries, event venues, hotels, god forbid you or you client needs them, medical services etc.
