Sorry about your compass, brother. I feel your pain. Last time I came home from the woods, I found that mine got cracked in the baseplate, and now it is an overpriced mirror…

For me, the best water storage for a vehicle is a double-walled vacuum stainless steel container, the 64oz size. On amazon these are as low as $15 these days - a few years ago they were $50+. If you're going out on a trail in the summer you can fill it at home with ice on Friday and when you're back to the car on Sunday you've got SUPER REFRESHING water, nice and cool. Similarly, if you're doing a mountaineering in the winter, fill it with hot water from your kettle and when you come back to your car that water won't be frozen. In my experience it takes about 4 days of the container sitting in the car to really be impacted by temperatures out side, ymmv. But I found that anything besides a double walled vacuum container would cause the water to get too hot or frozen after even just 24 hours. It's really helpful to have a smaller container for water in the car (such as one that fits your vehicle's cup holders) and I use this larger 64oz water to just refill the smaller one. Obviously this isn't the lightest container to haul around, but in an emergency you'll just have to make do and carry it.

I like the pouch when I worked in the mod medical supply depot in the 1980's they were still using 1943 haversacks for first aid kits for trucks

My truck is a 1979 Ford F250 4x4 extended cab. I carry a plethora of gear. In the cross bed tool box is spare parts and tools. Alternator, starter, fuel pump, fan clutch, hoses, belts, ignition module, distributor, head lights, light bulbs, fuses, voltage regulator, tire plug kit, 12 volt air compressor, jumper cables, battery booster, two gallons anti freeze, five gallons water, various stop leaks, gasket maker kit and sealer, quick set JB weld, gas tank repair kit. complete tool kit. In the bed are two spare tires, Hi Lift jack. a battery box bolted in with spare battery hooked up to solar charger maintainer. Two Jerry cans locked into carriers bolted into the bed, Inside the cab is a complete set of gear. Alice pack, set up for three days of full gear. Single shot 308 with spare 12 gauge and 22 LR barrels. Hi Point .45 ACP. Ammo. A bunch of crap hidden around.

Dang nice pouch. I would like to see simple, heavy duty belt loops on the pockets. To add to its versatility and it would give the option of using it as a sling pack too. I have some multi-pocket pieces designed to go on backpack front straps. I put them on my bob’s and sling bags. I don’t remember the brand name but they are excellent additions with many options built in. I think you should make them.

When I carry a questionable tarp that may lose a grommet, I carry 9 marbles with 3” -4” loops of cordage. That way I can wrap a corner, or side, of the tar around the marble & use the cord to secure it.
