The first time I went to Japan I booked a two night stay at a capsule hotel. The place was very clean, conveniently located and inexpensive. However, if you are a light sleeper or use the bathroom frequently, I would highly suggest not "trying it out" like I did. The constant door slamming, the next door neighbor snoring and no fan or air conditioning did it in for me. Also, your belongings are stored in a locker down the hall as well as the bathrooms. Needless to say I did not stay for my second night and booked a traditional hotel. I will never book a capsule hotel. You've been warned lol

If the AirAsia flight gets you into Haneda too late to get public transport into Tokyo, it's no big deal. Get up to the top floor and crash out. Depending on your final destination, from around 07.00 you can get a long distance bus. If you're travelling heavy (which is 95% of people) you can get your 20kg suitcase delivered by one of those companies next to where you buy the bus ticket. Sure you can put it on the bus, but then you have to manhandle it pulling your arm out of joint. Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
@JackBlack-ii1ip2 ай бұрын
Sometimes a direct flight is better than one where you have to change planes. With a direct flight, you can only be charged once for seat preference. And go for an aisle seat, if there are two of you, both book an aisle in the same row. My best deal was a Norwegian Air from Gatwick to Singapore, direct (bring your own food), the flight was cheaper than the airport charges. From Singapore you can easily get a 20,000 yen one-way flight to Tokyo ... or Ho Chi Minh City or Penang ... Jack, the Japan Alps Brit

@@teikleelim8277 that or get the ticket you bought from klook from the machine while purchasing the base fare - put through both paper tickets at the same time at the gate.... it's so messy. I almost missed my train because I didn't know about the base fare
@teikleelim82772 ай бұрын
@panathenaea I just checked with Klook..they confirmed that I don't need to get any additional ticket, just scan the QR code given on the ticket voucher Klook sent ...don't need to get a physical ticket either... Think I better go early & double check at the ticket counter ..
@panathenaea2 ай бұрын
@@teikleelim8277 well, in May I bought my ticket through Klook on the shinkansen. I actually got a physical ticket from the machine instead of using the qr code. It covered the cost from Kyoto to Tokyo but not the basic fare. The gate wouldn't open for me when I put the ticket in the gate. I had to purchase a basic fare ticket. It was all very frustrating. Yes, do go early and check at the shinkansen office (the personnel at the gate weren't helpful at all)

Always wanted to go to Japan. After visiting Vietnam I changed my mind. Everything is so expensive after visiting Vietnam lol. I had a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo overlooking the beach and only paid $548 for 15 days. My next stay there is a little different. I got a room with a king sized bed and a breakfast nook and private bathroom for $198 for 15 days. 2 blocks from last place i stayed. I had the view. So I opted to save a little more money for some extra sightseeing and another tattoo haha. Da Nang Vietnam is so cool. Do I still wanna see Japan. Eventually. Had a blast in Japan August 4-12! Here are the BIG THREE for me right when you get to the airport, after clearing immigration. 1. Get your Wi-Fi. 2. Get your IC card. 3. Get your Shinkansen ticket.

we were thinking of arriving at ~4 or 5 PM, hoping we'd have enough time to get through customs and then to the hotel and maybe by the time we're there it's late enough so we can sleep until the morning 😂 That being said I never travelled across such a big timezone (7 hrs ahead in our case), so I don't know if this is just wishful thinking..

The problem with Japan is that their KARAOKE SUCKS! Oh Japan created Karaoke right? Yeah, but but they never improved it like America has done. All that can be found over there are "karaoke rooms" I repeat karaoke rooms😂 Wth? Who wants to go and sing with just the people you are with. NO REAL AUDIENCE! There is nothing like the thrill of singing in front of total strangers and them applauding you because they loved your singing. Strangers...not just friends And what if all you have is one person with you? Talk about a dead crowd. Come on Japan, make KARAOKE GREAT FUN. If anyone knows of good "public" karaoke bar that is NOT private rooms in the Shinjuku area, please let me know, because I have desperately been trying to find one. Thanks for any answers. Love from Florida USA ❤❤❤
