The one guy saying catch his punch needs to teach guy to throw a basic jab then he could impress us showing us how he can catch a full speed jab to the face

Some of the most simple but effective moves I've seen for defending a straight punch and getting in close to counter- great stuff. Good video.

4.25 mins always pressure test and train for realism, otherwise when it becomes real you won't be ready, but left with a false sense of reality. A good partner offers that realism and you offer them the same. Too many martial arts are not based in reality IMHO. Good video.

Good ideas, yet how about using the mirroring stca, his left foot and hand forward and my right hand and right foot forward. Older styles of self-defence styles use it too. Best regards, Paul, 67, retired instructor.

I use MIRRORING a LOT-- (or use to before I got mashed between 2 trucks and had to retire).. a MIRROR is not the EXACT SAME MOVE as the attacker-- it's an EXACT OPPOSITE (like a yin yang symbol).. and it ALWAYS throws them off.. they EXPECT you to directly counter-- and when you DON"T- their mind goes into TILT mode briefly-- long enough for you to have MORE than a small advantage!!!

I DON"T.... NEVER-- I stay on his center-- UNTIL he TELEGRAPHS and he HAS to with that stance and distance.. and as soon as he telegraphs-- step IN on him at the 45 degree to his center-- and I"M IN CONTROL after that.. (over 1000+ documented encounters and 2 losses-- I think it MUST work!!! )

This technique ALSO allows for your free hand to grab that Glock 9mm in your waitband of your saggy jeans, or sweatshirt! 😂 Caveat: Do not attempt these techniques without a belt on! 😂

I NEVER punch.. EVER--- I always use OPEN hand moves-- palm-heel strikes- knife edge strikes- etc.. elbows, knees- POWER moves.. aikido- and several of my other 5 arts...ALL narrowed down to my best 40 or so moves practiced THOUSANDS of times--and USED.

To catch a Hand in a real Fight Situation, when you didn't know when the Punch is thrown and what kind of Punch is coming? Nah man,.. I don't think so, im out
@algail44 Жыл бұрын
Might work against someone who cant fight but nobody could use that catch-the-punch technique against a fast straight punch that is withdrawn as fast as it came at you. I didn't bother watching any more after that bad start.

Yeah this idea would probably be more effective for smothering the hands between the timing of the jab-off the half beat.

True, but when does a punch ever get snapped back as quickly as it got shot out? Almost never. If you watch boxing or mma even the top fighters almost never do it, most punch and let their hands fall downwards instead of snapping it back. As a former boxing coach I can attest that hand discipline is one of the first things to go once you get tired. Outside of a ring, in a real fight, it's even worse; most of the time people try to take your head off so they punch way too hard and end up swinging wildly in a swimming motion. Regardless of training or experience people tend to punch in a swimming motion. I actually tried the catch and throw technique yesterday with a sparring partner and it does work, especially because you close distance right away. The harder someone throws a punch, the more bodyweight they put into it, the harder it is to snap their punch back.

@@matthewschafer6359 Thanks for sharing your insights as a former boxing coach! It's true that maintaining hand discipline can be challenging, especially in a real fight when people tend to punch in a 'swimming' motion. Thanks for your input!

unless ur a woman, I dont think u really need two hands to block a simple jab or cross. head kicks maybe u want to use two hands, but who the hell throws head kicks in a street fight other than wesley snipes?
