I love how beginner-friendly this is. It's like some weird combination where it doesn't feel like I'm being talked down to, but it's also totally in layman's terms

A few tips that I picked up since I’m also looking to do a saber install. The size of the iron tip should be small enough to be comfortable to work with depending on the size of the pad and cables, but not so small it has trouble transferring heat into the metal components. You should adjust the temperature of your iron, depending on the type of solder you’re using, so that it melts quickly, minimizing the damage to the iron, and the components. Use a bit of flux to avoid any corrosion, even if you have rosin core solder, it never hurts to be safe, though depending on the flux you use, it can leave a sticky residue, so you should have cotton ear cleaners and isopropyl alcohol to clean that up. When soldering wires to components, be sure to strip enough rubber insulation to make a secure joint, but that’s it. Making sure you can see as little exposed wire as possible. This will help make a stronger connection and prevent any short circuits. You should always pre tin your cables and components when possible, it makes things much easier. If you are a beginner, you should wear eye protection. And lastly, there are various types of solder cables, some which are lead free. Though the ones made of lead are much easier to work with, but produce toxic fumes.

I almost had a heart attack every time you touched the tip of the soldering iron! lol I know it was not on, but after 10+ years of working with electronics it was scary to see. Also, just a note, to create a better connection you want to heat the metal and touch the solder to the metal not the soldering iron. That helping hands thing looks awesome though, I'll definitely look into that! Thanks for the video and the series!

You should also be using the following products for better soldering results: Flux paste or flux fluid(which comes in a dispenser type bottle or a syringe type dispenser) for cleaner and faster soldering! 90% rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips for cleaning up the residual flux. Tinning paste (this comes in a small can with a lid) to help keep the soldering iron tips in better shape! And (available at most hobby shops and Amazon) a magnifying headset for seeing everything even better!😊 Plus, you only need a quarter of an inch worth (or less even!) of exposed wire to solder onto your soundboard.

Just want to throw out a correction about soldering, you don't heat up the solder itself, you heat up the WIRE (or point on the PCB) you are soldering, then the solder just melts into the wire and makes the attachment.

This may be obvious but just in case it’s not for someone I’ll say it: Please *DO NOT* touch the soldering iron tip (the paintbrush) when it is on because it will burn you quick and burn you bad. When it’s on the tip is around 500°F Stay safe y’all, from both COVID-19 and soldering irons.

you should just stick the wire or other components you’re soldering through the holes on the PCB, rather than laying it on top and applying a thin layer of solder. that’s what the holes are meant for.
