This man’s videos are a national treasure. You all know this, as you click around youtube, that is, lots of people make vidoes like this but few have the presentation skills, on screen presence, and natural soothing voice (or unique voice of sort). This man will go down as the Bob Ross of construction videos on youtube. And on top of that he gives insane good advice. -6-15-21

Welcome to Oregon. Its a bunch of people like this and two or three cities full of tree huggers and hippies.
@jw11432
@jw11432 7 жыл бұрын
That's good to hear. My impression of Oregon is based on KZbin, which tends to feature a lot of Portland hippies attacking people and blocking traffic. I know of another KZbinr in Oregon (pretty sure I have the state right) that goes by Wranglerstar. He and this gentleman here are guys that I wish I knew.
@greygag36
@greygag36 7 жыл бұрын
jw11432 Portland eugene and Medford are really the only places like that. wranglerstar is somewhere in the mountains to the east of Portland not sure exactly and don't look because I respect his privacy. Scott is dead between Eugene and Medford in Roseburg. it's absolutely beautiful around here. as for geography Oregon is interesting. we have the costal ranges, cascades and the high desert. from the coast ranges to the ocean is a between 20 feet and 20+ miles. it's all temperate forest. between the coastal range and Cascades is the valleys Roseburg and the 3 big cities fall into. fairly moderate but get really nice in the summer. east of the Cascades is the high desert and bend. it's pretty much like nevada out there. lots of circle farms however.

Oregon is an AMAZING place, and I'll include Portland in that assessment. Everyone I've encountered has been incredibly nice, and it's hard to find prettier countryside and coastline. There's just something magical about that place.

Woke up in the middle of the night to handle nature's call and saw the notification this video dropped. So I watched in bed. Wife nudged me, "what are you doing? It's 2:30am and that light is bright?! "I'm watching Scott's truck tour!!!" "Who the hell is Scott?" Anyways, this was perfect. And thank you for the great videos week to week.

Can't say I've had the roughest life, but my dad was a boatswain's mate in the Navy - coming off a farm - and did other physical jobs in his career. My mother was a licensed practical nurse. They both stressed proper body mechanics. Began my work career as a temporary laborer. Used to jump off truck docks until an older worker cautioned me to avoid doing that to protect my back. I made the connection that I only had so many jumps in my back before I'd have problems.

One of the best videos. I am enjoying setting up my first new truck in 31 years. Ford F-350 single rear wheel, diesel, 4wd, crew cab, short bed and it even has air conditioning! For my business bed space is important, but so is clean extra space in the cab for mobile office, clothing and gear for staying at a jobsite for up to 3 days, sensitive tools, photography gear, water, and some grub.

Thank you. It's always good to see someone putting thought into making their job better / easier. I'm forever making up kit for the test work I do to make the job easier, quicker and safer. Recently I've started selling kit I make to others and it's pretty rewarding to be contacted out of the blue by someone wanting to buy my kit. I was told many years ago, out on a job site, by an old guy, 'we're paid to work smarter, not harder' and I always try to follow that.

13 minutes of golden knowledge right there-thank you for all these videos. My only thought on the overall setup might be storing the most frequently used items on the passenger/curb side of the truck so you’re not exposed to as much traffic when parked on the street. I know from other videos you are often on a dedicated worksite or rural area so this is more of a suggestion for urban environments. Love your videos. It’s like getting back lost time with my dad/grandpa. I miss those days with them learning man stuff.

About 15 years ago, I lived in texas and built flatbed truck bodies from scratch and we would install them as well, sometimes I'd get a guy who knew exactly what he needed out of a flatbed and I would build it to his specs. Learned alot from them as I went along and it grew my wealth of knowledge, this of course was before I became disabled about 10 years ago when I was driving a medium/heavy duty tow truck and got hit by a car. Anyways, just an idea for you here, you could easily take those 2 job box's you have there and cut out the outside facing panel and weld in hinges so that when you open the lid, the face would lay down just like your bottom box's do and it would create a desk like feature along with making it so you wouldn't have to climb up the side of the truck and lift your tools up and over like that.. Would save your back too ;) awsome build for sure and thanks for all the videos you take time to make and share with all of us..

As a GC I can see why you would have that set up. But as a high end finish carpenter in can tell you nothing beats an extended CHEVY/GMC 2500. Sliding door unit. Tons of room, quiet ride, lots of power and I’ve set it up to hold every tool I need for a Mobile remote shop. And still have room for full sheets of plywood or sheet rock. Rain and snow don’t mess up my materials or tools. I can store everything in the custom bins and shelves. I’ve created slide in/out storage containers for specialty tools. Plus I ride in complete comfort and style. Everything has a place, because I built it, I know how it works. I love your channel and videos. I’m constantly learning and challenging my skill set and at 59, I’m still out working the 20 somethings. Mostly because I can show up on time sober. Plus people are willing to pay for skills that work. Not jobs that pay. I take the big and small stuff, and always give more than I’m asked for. Quality has to be first. Speed comes. If it’s right the first time, they figure out it’s worth it. And I never pay to advertise my work skills. My great customers make sure all their friends and family know who did this work. Thanks for sharing. God bless your family!

Sweet! Gotta say I just made the investment on a knack box for my ole work truck. Which is only interesting bc your skil saw video changed my life, and I can't say I've had a full day without making a cut/eyeballing a 42-49 degree rip. Thanks EC!

I am a disabled 70 year old phone repairman and I just loved this Tool Tank!!! I had a 4X4 Dodge truck that Ma Bell thought I no longer needed in Southeastern Ohio between I 70 and I 77 along the Ohio River. That old truck would climb a tree if the bark didn't give way! But the powers that be in Chicago thought they knew more that the guys in the field did and took them all away and gave most of us bucket trucks.... Now a bucket truck is just great in the city but this area is hills and hollers gravel and mud roads and a bucket truck here is a total joke!!! I spend the last 3 getting stuck almost 3 or 4 times a week!!! I would have just loved to have a truck like the one you showed us!!!

This was super interesting. I want a truck like this so bad. I have no use for it either, but it's just so damn cool! Guys and their trucks, I guess. I certainly can't explain it. Not to mention it was designed with a friend. What a truck. What a story.

A load of great ideas there, thanks for showing us your rig. This reminds me of little things my dad would do to his work vehicles to make them handy.

Honestly, I'm just looking for an idea of what to do with the rear of my truck when I rip the bed off of it. This is absolute genius.

Its weird how different people envy different things in life. Growing up in an urban environment, i never would've imagined myself being envious of an old timer and his old work truck. Now, I'm almost thirty, a carpenter by trade and do all kinds of restoration work as hobby; I don't look forward to much in my next thirty years except an even cooler(not nicer) work truck and shop. Thanks for all the amazing video!

It is amazing how much more work you can do with the proper tools and this (tool) makes it a pleasure to work not a chore. Like when you have your shop organized it takes an hour to do an hour job, not an hour moving stuff to do the hour job than an hour putting stuff back. That is 2 hours of agrivation &1 hour of satisfaction. I would have loved to have a truck like this when I was working. Hell I want one now 😂 But seriously I am getting a flatbed for camping so I can customize it to my needs.thanks for a few ideas( hitch/step and steps on sides. Thanks for posting
