Hey, Cult fan! This is a fantastic lesson, but the C chord at 3:10 is not correct. The chord played on the recording is the best sounding chord you have ever heard in a rock song. Why? Because it is not a plain old major or minor chord- it is special... And that special-ness definitely requires the top two strings to be ringing out too. Here's the hint: The D note of the D chord (that rings on the B string) is played in that "C chord" that follows it (but is not a plain C major chord). Listen to the recording... that chord sounds simply AMAZING... like no other rock sound... because it is special- not a boring vanilla C major chord. I think it might be a Cadd9 if I remember correctly from when I figured it out a couple years ago....?

Awesome. I had a couple of beers with The Cult’s drummer, John Tempesta , after a gig. Lovely guy.
