Essie GelCouture vs. CND Vinylux [Battle of the Brands]

Although I have many Essie polishes, base and top coats, hands down, I'm a Vinylux addict. I'm so impressed with their system, color selection and wear. I use this almost exclusively now (if I'm not doing gel polish) over a buffed hard gel overlay. I can easily get 10 to up to 14 days out of it with only slight (and not noticeable) chipping at the very corners of the free edge of a my most used fingers, but that's it. I've been recommending it everyone this year!!

Yes, nail polish lasts so well over gel :) By the way, you don't need a base coat when you are applying polish over gel :))

Learn a lot from you both.I like your model in that he fills in when needed. For example, when you said "you should roll your top coat", he acts out rolling the bottle between his hands for charity.

More views Bc Essie is the older/more familiar brand, especially in non salon users of products.

I prefer CND but, I find essie more readily available for non professionals. I’ve seen it at Walmart, Target, Ulta etc...

Hi, i love vinylux. But how do i stop it staining my nails? Ive tried using their ridge filler as a base but it goes off very quickly.

In Denmark Essie is way more available than Cnd. I only know of a few places that sell Cnd in my town, some nail clinics and a few hairdressers/combined beautyshops, but Essie is available in pretty much every large department store, chemists and other shops.

I live in California and at least where I'm from Essie is way more widely available, I can find it in pharmacy/drug stores, places like Walmart and Target and Sally Beauty Supply. CND I've only ever seen at Walgreens and in a very limited amount, maybe 10 colors that never seem to change whereas the Essie displays are usually more prominent in the stores here and have a ton more colors than what's available in store for CND. I never even considered looking only for CND products until your videos

Oh wow, here in Canada it's the opposite. Shoppers Drug Mart has pretty extensive selection of CND Vinylux, pretty extensive selection of Essie (regular) but quite small selection of Essie Gel Couture.

PS. On another inspection (went to Shoppers today, again lol), the Vinylux selection was not that great (compare what I have in my salon lol, I have about 100). They did have the basic Essie Gel Couture colors (looks like a brand new display though).

Gel polishes are a little tricky because they need the lamp that goes with the system to cure properly but actually LE does cure (confirmed by their chemist) in CND lamp. I’m going to create a poll in the community section to see how many people are interested.
