This has to be one of your most informative and helpful videos. All your tips are great. Even the one to keep your bottle behind the lamp. I will be rewatching this one regularly. Thank you so much, again! I love your channel. X

I don't do shellac on my nails but I still watched the entire video! I can't always catch you live during the day due to work but I do watch them afterwards ... I always learn something and I really enjoy the chat part of it! Hopefully, I'll be able to watch your next live video.

Thank you so much for all that you’re teaching us. I’ve been doing my own manicures and using cuticle oil every time I wash my hands and my nails are looking so much better I used to bite my nails and skin around my nails due to dryness and I have stopped biting my nails and pretty much stopped with peeling of my skin around my nails too. You’re awesome

is it supposed to feel rubbery when dry? i got the cnd lamp bc it isn’t hard when i cured with another lamp, but it still has a rubbery feel and i’m anxious that it’s under-cured :/

Hi Anna! I’ve been learning so much from your videos. They have also made me very aware of the potential allergies that a home gel manicure can cause. I recently bought a home kit from MYLEE (Their LED Pro lamp + polishes). So far I have been absolutely loving the results and I pray I can do these manicures for myself forever! I spend between 2-3 hours when I do my nails, making sure I prep them nicely, and do my best to apply the polishes correctly and beautifully. I’m mostly worried about removing the gel. It’s very difficult for me and takes ages, and I’m worried that I do it for too long (and even then, my gel never comes off as easily than how I see you remove gels from people’s nails). I’m worried that one day something will cause an allergic reaction because I remove them incorrectly. May I ask you a question… You know how you can soak the gel nails in a hot water, and then it becomes possible to peel them off! I know it’s incredibly rude to the poor nails, they always look so damaged and fluffy after I do this. However, would you agree that this method is perhaps at least a method that would never cause any allergies? Or can you still develop an allergy by doing this? I’m not so worried about damaging my nails because they can always grow out, correct? If you agree that this is an ok removing method to do to avoid an allergic reaction, could applying a gel on top of the damaged/fluffy nails straight after, without waiting for them to grow out, make the gel to seep into the nails and can cause an allergic reaction or am I safe? 🥀 Thank you for your amazing and educational videos!

I used different gel brands while using 1 lamp... that's why I now have allergies to gels and even dark pigments of regular polish bother me. Great video. Love the color as usual.

This is SOOOO HELPFUL! I am hoping to do this myself soon!

I love your videos soooo much! I have given myself an allergy to gel and now I try really hard to apply it really safely. Not touching the living skin and double curing each layer.
@TheSalonLife Жыл бұрын
Hi Gabriella, so sorry to hear you have developed overexposure. Once you have it it doesn't go away and your body becomes more and more sensitive to ingredients contained in gels. Hypoallergenic gels are good at reducing the risk of developing allergy but its too late when you are already allergic. Skin exposure doesn't happen when you literally touch the skin with gel. It happens during removal process or when coming in contact with sticky layer and not wiping it correctly. During removal process the improperly cured gel mixes with acetone and soaks into the skin or when you file the uncured gel falls as dust on your skin. Gels are never cured 100%. They are usually cured up to 90% and that's the best case scenario when you use a proper lamp. Most of the time people use improper lamps thinking they are all the same. schoonscientific.com/2014/complexity-uv-curing/

Would you also do the flash curing on a client or is this just when you’re working on yourself? Also I’m noticing on your first step with your read that you are not capping the free edge

Question please….if your nails do have a tendency to peel…once your nails have grown out to a healthy “situation “….which polish system do you recommend? Gel v shellac? I want to invest in at home system. I was looking into CND. TY so much!

Thank you for this. I'd also like a video about how to do UV/LED gel nails yourself without getting allergic to them. I prefer doing my own nails as I don't like frequent trips to a salon and here they also cut your cuticles so I'm scared I might contract something from the tools being used on everybody. There are good salons but I have to be careful as I'm a diabetic. Any help on this front is greatly appreciated. Thank you❤

To do skin clean up, apart from just using a wooden stick or a dry brush, could you use isopropyl alcohol or acetone?
@TheSalonLife3 жыл бұрын
I prefer dry wooden stick. Acetone and alcohol will dissolve the product too much I find.

Thanks again! Great video. Is ScrubFresh also good for the last step of cleaning the stickiness of the shellac? Or is alcohol a requisite?
@TheSalonLife3 жыл бұрын
Hi Donna! You are welcome! 99% alcohol. ScrubFresh contains acetone which can weaken the coating.

Love CND they are pricey here in the US but still buy a color once in a while. I do use a different lamp bc the CND one is about $130 🥲
@TheSalonLife Жыл бұрын
I strongly recommend the CND lamp. Not all lamps are created equal and you can’t tell by naked eye how the gel polish is curing on a microscopic level.
