Awesome Elliott! Though I am a suburban child of the 60's---born in 1950, raised in Southern and Northern California---I have always been drawn more to "rural" music. My mom had Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire album, which I listened to laying on the floor in front of our Magnavox console. The first LP I bought was Johnny Horton's Greatest Hits. I remember watching Country & Western variety shows in the mid-50's on the TV in our Van Nuys living room. I never much cared for the psychedelic music that took over Rock 'n' Roll in the mid-late 1960's, but the San Francisco Bay area (we moved to San Jose in 1958) had plenty of Country-influenced artists and bands for guys like me (Asleep At The Wheel, Commander Cody, Dan Hicks). And when I moved back to L.A. in '79, I was happy to learn that there was a very healthy C & W scene happening. I spent a lot of time at The Palomino, and even appeared on stage there a coupla times. Hey, if you end up with one more copy of The Cold Hard Facts Of Life LP than you need, lemme know. I've been looking for one!---Eric.

Country music was at its best in the 50s and 60s. Ira Louvin, great find. Like you I had no idea he released a solo album. Thanks, Elliott.

The 50's and 60's are my favorite country eras. I'm a big Hank Thompson fan and one of the few county legends that I actually got to see in concert. Kitty Wells was at the venue with him. I love Merle Haggard and George Jones is my favorite. You got a steal with the Johnny Paycheck as the Lil' Darling records are hard to find. Cheers.

I've lived in Southern California (Los Angeles County) my entire life. I'm in my early 40s. Mexican-American... I love country music from that era. Usually find it for a buck or in the free bin.

I know Elliott got a hundred records but I would have been so stoked for him if he had got a Louvin Brothers OG. Porter Waggoner records often have great covers. Today's country artists could learn something from him. Congrats on all the cheap records!

That is a great batch of records. I need some Jerry Reed records in my collection. I’ve been getting rid of a lot of records. Mostly stuff normal people like. My collection is slowly becoming a collection of Punk Country and Psych.

Great stuff. Yesterday on the Tokyo Record Style stream I asked you if you had done a video on albums from '74. Well, look back three years ago, pard. ;) I wouldn't forget such a cool southern accent. I was just listening to Mike Auldridge today. I'm thinkin his cover of Gershwin's Summertime is going to be in my Summer Vinyl tag video... if I get the gumption to make it. (What a great album though.) I need to get my hands on that Jerry Jeff Walker record.

You scored a bunch of good records, many I've not seen or knew of. I went to an estate sale the other day and the guy had a bunch of new country, but wasn't interested in that. I do like Ray Price, but don't consider him new. You can tell by the covers that these are rare and older. I've heard of Little Jimmy Dickens and remember that hit. I always thought Bird of Paradise was Buck Owens.

50's and 60's country and you didn't give me a call? Shame on you! I have been looking for that Hank Thompson you showed. Hi Chester!
