Jet. I got to see him at Coachella in.2009. Amazing. He headlined and was supposed to play 1hour. He played over 2 hours and the organizers were fined a bunch of money for not shutting down on time. Noise ordinance.

I was that 13 year old you are referring to. McCartney fan in Nashville just hoping for a glimpse of them. I saw his Rolls Royce in front of a restaurant and was looking in the windows like a groupie. The steering wheel was on the wrong side. They rented a mellotron from Cotton music while my brother worked there. My bro was a writer for Tree.

They stayed at my friend's family farm. Paul paid my friend $300 a week to run errands and get certain herbs for them real good money in 74. lol My friend Greg Putman asked us to stay away and respect Paul's privacy. So I stayed away but Paul and Linda passed my VW van on a country road on a motorcycle without helmets. I wish I had crashed the place and met Paul. One friend was visiting Greg and he said Paul walked out of a shower drying himself and my friend was speechless stunned. They said Paul said it's okay mate it happens all the time.

Wow! I loved Bill's story. It adds so many details to that period in time regarding Paul/Linda & Wings. It's funny that..... the only record cover that I asked Paul to sign when I met Paul in 1990, was 'Walking in the Park with Eloise'. For some reason, I knew that record was very important to Paul because he recorded that song for his dad. Others who were there were getting him to sign 'Abbey Road'/Band on on the Run etc. Paul & Linda smiled at me & said 'Mon Per' (sic French) to me. Special amazing moment. GAZ (Melbourne/Australia) Thanks for all your insightful clips OTIS.

A guy I know was standing on a sidewalk in Nashville at that time holding some albums when a van stopped at a red light and Linda McCartney started talking to him about one of the albums he was holding. He spoke to her and asked if Paul was in there. Paul leaned forward in the driver's seat in his cowboy hat and gave a wave. They asked if he needed a ride but he was going a different way. The light changed and they went on their way. He later said he ,of course , should have taken them up on their offer and went which ever way they were headed.

I read a similar story years ago. Early 70s Wings are playing the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. A young wife teases her husband "Too bad you have to work tonight. I'm going to see Paul McCartney and Wings" with my girlfriends The poor guy goes to work for Con Ed the NYC electric company in Manhattan. He and a couple of guys are digging a hole in the street with a jack hammer when Paul and Linda drive up in a limousine on their way to the show. They roll down the window and they chat with the the working men for a few minutes. The next morning the husband got the last laugh at the breakfast table.

1974 I was living 74 miles south of Nashville in rural Giles county and a junior in high school, and we knew that Wings were somewhere in or around Nashville. I kid you not! Yes the rumors were all over middle TN, because in those days, everybody knew someone, or was related to somebody who lived around the city, and practically everyone who lived in Nashville knew within a couple of hours what was going on there. Because in those days, Nashville was just a great big small town. I surely miss that Nashville. Great story! Brought back some wonderful memories. Thanks you so much for sharing it.

Living in southern Indiana I go to Nashville as often as I can. It's a fun place for anyone who loves music and history. I've seen a lot of good acts there , both country and rock and roll. Last time I went I saw my old friend and truly astounding guitarist Lonnie Mack ( RiP) at his home and we went out and saw the Mavericks play in a club . They were an outstanding band who had some hits in the 90s . There's always someone playing good music on a stage somewhere in Nashville . Incidentally I have also seen a lot of good artists in Nashville , Indiana. Don Williams, Loretta's Lynn , Ricky Skaggs . I don't know if live music still comes to Nashville, IN but back in the day it sure did
